The whole beginning of "My Name is Prince" samples "I Wanna Be Your Lover," "Controversy," and "Partyup."

"Partyman (Purple Party Mix)" samples "I Wanna Be Your Lover," "Head," "Partyup," "Sexy Dancer," "Let's Work," "1999", "Raspberry Beret," "Erotic City," "Kiss," "U Got The Look," "Housequake," "Alphabet St."

"Gett Off" samples "Get Off."

"I Hate U" replays a section of "Baby."

There is a lot of those sleigh bell type noises in "Come," "2Morrow," etc. Lots of cross pollenation in those songs and remixes.

"The Max" samples "Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic."

In his remake of "1999: The New Master," he actually samples the Classical Metropolitain Orchestra's version of "1999."

"Girl 6" uses "Raspberry Beret."

GCS's "Love 4 One Another" uses "Billy Jack Bitch" drum track.

There are just tons.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

maybe I misread the original post.

Did you mean that "She's Always in My Hair" contains a sample?

That's not part of the song proper. It's a segue sequenced into the track itself. It's a radio tuning. The same way it's done on Carmen Electra's album.

"Million $ Show" samples "For You" and "Let's Go Crazy"

See above. And it's actually "For You," "1999," then "Let's Go Crazy."

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

There are tracks that actually sample other tracks (e.g. "My Name Is Prince"), but I wouldn't say "The Max" samples "Rave...". He's just playing the same melody. That's not sampling. And he's reusing/recycling some basic tracks in other songs. Again, that's not sampling.

.

Anyway, it just shows that Prince was a master recycler. razz

On that same note, he also rolled the same percussion track under different songs at times, so I don't know if those instances should be considered a sample either. Maybe its more about which got mixed up first (not released first). The Cream NPG remix vs My Name is Prince... what came first?

And on that same note, the earliest example of that is probably "Baby I'm A Star" drum pattern being used in "America" (which, again, only supports the notion that ATWIAD uses the same album blueprint as Purple Rain).
