It's a fake.

What difference does that make? It's still the only version of the song I like. Fake or not. It could be a Prince impersonator for all I care.

It said is best not you like most.

But TBH I think you're glamourous (4 realz, I ain't making fun of ya), so I'll give you a princess pass hug

There's no such thing as "best" anything. It's all opinions, isn't it?

I've been called many things but never glamorous. But I'll take it razz

I don't really give a shit about the 'Frankenstein Mix' nonsense, the version on Originals sounds fantastic as it is and I'm glad to have it in my collection.

well be glad some people do care because if it went unchecked you might start caring real fast, real fuckin' fast.

I´m not a big fan of any of the released versions, regardless of whether it´s Sinead O´Connor singing it or The Family or Prince and Rosie, and I don´t think it´s the kind of song that should be sung as a duet.

But I absolutely love the Nude tour version where he sang it alone, playing his piano.

The Buenos Aires version and the one from La Coruna are my favorite versions of this song because it´s sad, melancholic breakup song and the Nude tour version really sounded very emotional and sad.

The duets do nothing for me.

The same goes for If I Was Your Girlfriend.....the "party" version he did around 2007 did not really match the introspective , sad mood of the 1987 live renditions.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Very thankful Prince cultivated a fanbase as diverse as his material. If we all subscribed to the "It's fine to me!" "Be grateful!" philosophy we'dve gotten MJ Cascio tape'd every year since 2016....

eehhhhhh didn't notice that it's lossy or off speed or the sleeves scratch the discs or tapes are audibly combined from different sources or tape splices or tape errors.... youzguyz sure? people complain about everything around here... better than the bootlegs! whiners act like they paid $160 for 9 discs...

Sinead's is my favorite, blasphemous as that may sound! Then the version on Originals.

The Family version is decent, but falls well behind both of the above.

The live version on The Hits/The B-Sides is by far my least favorite - it doesn't do much for me at all.

Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

Not a big fan of this song. I like the one on originals. The sinead O'Connor one sounds ridiculous to me.

Sinead's version.

Prince version cinematic mix and the One Nite Alone live version.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

There are two versions that Prince released. The 90s version, with Rosie, is awful. The only version is the Family version (all other released versions are reconstructions of where Prince was when he wasn't done with the song yet).

.

The only way to improve the song is to take the Family version and remove Paul's vocals and restore the Prince vocals on it. (I still hope that will get done eventually, but I won't hold my breath)

Three versions - you missed out One Nite Alone... Live!

The only version I actually like is the Prince version from the Originals album. Never liked the Sinead O'Connor version. Rosie Gaines voice annoys me so the version with her on it never did anything for me. The Family's version is ok but kind of boring.

I strongly agree...

and yes, I know the Originals version was a fake. I still like it the best. And I still dislike Rosie Gaines vocals.

I prefer The Family’s version. Prince and Rosie’s version is good if not a little over dramatic. Chris Cornell’s is great as well. Sinead’s ok.

if we're adding covers (like the awfully tonedeaf version from Sinead about her mother), FDeluxe did a pretty good version

The Family version is best.

Prince & Rosie did a fine job too, but somehow Prince never seemed to be able to capture a studio version which did the song justice.

Bluedell

Sinead O'Connor's version.

It was the one that I heard first and the other versions I've heard subsequently haven't come close, although the Cinematic Mix is the one that comes closest.

I've never rated the Family's version.
