Shameless plug: my new article about SOTT

Hi everyone. A few months ago I started writing a column about the music I love, and how it impacted my life. I waited to talk about SOTT until the SDE came out, so last week I got to wax sentimental about my college friend who turned me into a Purple Disciple.

.

You'll find it here:

.

https://trouble.city/arti...e-the-dawn

.

Hope you enjoy it!

.

(By the way, I don't get a dime for this. I just do it for fun, to exercise a different set of creative muscles. And to talk about music.)

Excellent article. I like the intertwining of music and the lifecourse of a friendship. It's an interesting thing, the bands we love, or the bands other people love, become associated with us (or them). I also salute your gumption in making that career change (just read your piece at https://trouble.city/arti...ime-coming ), and look forward to reading more of your work.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to click over and read! I've always wanted a forum for blathering on and on about my favorite music, so when the chance to write this column came along... I took a leap of faith and said yes.

.

Now, back to the Prince worshipping...

Probably a normal one. Unless you had parents with money.

Probably a normal one. Unless you had parents with money.

I was living on a few thousand a year at a public university (with tons of roommates in simple apts)... but had food (even if it was a box of Kraft Spaghetti and a can of tomato sauce)! And in the couple of years I lived in dorms... there was always food in the cafeteria, unless the kitchen was closed completely for some odd reason. And everyone stole silverware and dishes from the cafeteria too. Not to mention, you moved in with basic supplies because there was at least one community microwave somewhere in a dorm, if you were out of sync with the cafeteria.

But regardless... I loved this essay, or rumination. Well written, and I loved the idea of the loss of a friend. Prince was that imaginary friend (to most of us outsiders) we all lost.
