sound levels of the posthumous Prince releases...

I just noticed that the tracks from the 1999 SDE are just a tad bit louder than SOTT SDE... and i'm not really mad, because that means more dynamic range, which is good, especially for such legendary tracks.... but it is a bit inconsistent....

its not jarring tho...its not like, its 2015, you're jamming to Starfish and Coffee from obviously the original digital in your car, then as you have it on shuffle, unprepared for the following track, Interactive from CB98 comes on and you rush to to volume nob...

no its not like that lol

but its still interesting

does this mean they are listening to us when we say we want better dynamic range??

Originals, i think, were just a tad louder than 1999 SDE... the Purple Rain... well the 'remastered' first disc was jarring and disgustingly too squashed and loud.... glad it hasn't happened that bad since

personally, i thought 1999 SDE was a perfect combo of dynamic range and the good ol punch i'm use to with digital music...

Yep, SoTT SD appears to have good dynamic range, comparatively speaking, though there's still a fair bit of clipping going on in some tracks, but perhaps not in a way that's really audible. I listen to music in a program that shows you the audio waveforms, and I could tell right away that this was an improvement over earlier remasters.

Anyone else hearing an error in the SDE Rebirth of the flesh? At the 5.13 mark, the sound jumps by at least 2db. Once I've heard it, I can't unhear it.

You can actually do both: enjoy the music and discuss the sound quality, the process, what Howe says or doesn't say, what should be released in the future and in what form, etc. And, yes, life is short. Thanks for the reminder. thumbs up!

It’s here yes... but we don’t just “have it.”

We paid for it.

If quality control on these reissues is NOT of paramount importance than what is?
I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

Isn't the sound quality sort of the entire point of a remaster?

Some people here speculate that it may be a frankenstein mix.

I know I'm gonna get it in the neck for saying this but (as I said on another forum)....louder doesn't mean better. I did some comparing and to be honest, I hear more bass and punchy lows on the original SOTT release. The remastered version is louder (which is nice to have) but it also has this weird glossy sound. The best example is U Got The Look. On the original it's a lot quiter than the other tracks. If you try a comparison, use headphones and try not to adjust your volume when comparing the two. I found this to be the same on the Purple Rain remaster.
