Bloody hell, so that means they made a 12'' RSD bases on the streaming master?!

OK, one way to get to the bottom of this: I'm created a thread!!

I posted this in Databank's new thread but I'll pop it here as well. I've just had a listen to both my original 12" and the single on Apple Music and it really is a split second difference. That tiny bit of the start of Play on the streaming version is not on the original 12", which has a clean cut.

This remix disc is a head buster! I made a playlist of a few of the tracks and was totally overwhelmed at how it just did not f***king stop. And when it was all over I was craving to play it again. So I did. If I didn't see before why Prince was light years ahead of everyone else back then by God I sure as shit see it now!!!

Okay so I've checked the new remaster LP version of SOTT in my sound editor and have some good news.

The track separator between SOTT and PITS is perfect now.

If you isolate SOTT, you get no PITS artifact at the end.

This is much better than the previous CD versions.

Now if you put SOTT on a different playlist, it will end nicely.

Of course it won't have any silence between the end of SOTT and your next track, unless there is silence at the start of that track.

Anyway I'm satisfied with it. And I think the remaster sounds awesome.

If someone is able to check the 1987 12" single with headphones, I'm very curious to see if the PITS artifact is present!

Oh wow - that means the RSD 12" probably is the same as that streaming version.
I mean, who checks these? They're charging 12 GBP for these maxi singles now.

They should be perfect! WTF?

It's the same with the CD, which is why I don't understand how the 12'' could have a cleaner ending than that. See the thread I created about it.

"La, La, La, He, He, Hee (Highly Explosive)" is possibly a vinyl rip on the box set.

The only other slight mishap with disc 3 is the "Highly Explosive" version of "La, La, La, He, He, He," which is taken from vinyl. It's a well-done cleanup, but there is obvious vinyl rumble at the ending and very low frequency rumble throughout the track. All of the other extended versions are definitely from the master tape, so apparently this is the only one that could not be located.

I mean, I've listened to vinyl transfers of all those extended versions / B-sides, etc. for years (the first compilation, for me at least, being the transfers done by Timothy/T) and they really sounded like they were coming from vinyls. Because they did. Same with the extended version of "America" on that compilation from WB France.

But "La, La, La, He, He, Hee (Highly Explosive)"? Nope. I can't hear it. So if it indeed comes from a vinyl, they did a really good job at cleaning it.
