I didn't. I mistakenly believed it would be available in at least one retailer. By then it was OOP.

I didn't have the money to get it when it came out, and I definitely don't have the money for SOTT Deluxe now

I bought it but know many Prince fans who either were cool with streaming it or assumed it would be available later on easily and didn't get it right away

Reprinting elaborate box sets is a very complex and expensive task so it's just not worth it to satisfy "SOME" demand that might have been left.

These things are limited editions for a reason – besides, it would even hurt the sales of the next box set if people would be thinking "there's no rush in buying this, I'll wait for it to go down in price or for later when I'll have more money".

Whoa, stupid me, I didn't look on Amazon. I'm gonna snap up a second copy then cuz that is a great price (it's less than what I paid from Amazon when it released).

Pls let us know if it actually ships at that price. Out of curiosity I tried to put several hundred copies of it into my shopping cart just to see how many they have in stock and it would've let me order 999 of them in one go, which is quite unrealistic.

I was just looking for this about 2 weeks ago and NO ONE had it in stock. I even called the Official Prince Store and they said they had no idea when it would be back in stock. (I was then really agitated with myself that I hadn't actually bought a physical copy, which is what I have always done over the years.)

Since I had Apple Music when 1999 Super Deluxe came out, I just downloaded it. Easy-peasy.

A few months ago I decided I can't pay apple $10/month for Apple Music when I only add one CD worth of new music (that I actually listen to) every year.

I prefer all of my old music!

PS - I just ordered my 1999 Super Deluxe!

Part of me is saying that I'm an awful fan for not buying the vinyl version, but then I realise my turntable is in a box and unlikely to see the light of day for some time..

Common sense and Prince obsessions seldom see eye to eye, but on this occasion I think I've done the right thing to stick with the CD version!!

It was available on Amazon Japan recently too, for about $70 + shipping.

Tip: Subscribe to Superdeluxeedition on Facebook. They posted about it on Amazon Japan as an alert to anyone who was looking for it.

I don't understand how it keeps popping up though. Are retailers holding on to copies for some reason, or losing and later discovering them among inventory? Maybe it doesn't all get shipped from plant to store immediately? It just seems weird. I work in ecommerce and we do everything we can to get product out the door.

Grabbed a copy of the vinyl box set, now i work from home i listen to vinyl and stream, don't listen to CDs anymore so regretted not getting the vinyl version as well as the CD version. Just over £200 on Amazon US... it's over £300 on Amazon uk so couldn't resist!

Thank you! I was sweating that I missed the CD release. I love my Price vinyl, but I don't feel the need to have all the vault and demo stuff on vinyl. Allthough, the book is way better in the large format, so it stinks I'll never have it in a large format. I'm happy the CD version of SOTT was made large on CD. I'm lovong the SOTT box - amazing!
