what song should prince have offered to joni Mitchell?

Who knows why he picked emotional pump for her.
I'd have picked maybe power fantastic.
If the estate do a prince covers project,I'd love to hear her do that, or something like tangerine. Or I love u, i don't trust you anymore. No idea if she still records though.

It'd have to be something with really good lyrics.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

That would be funny, Joni speaking of herself in third person

Joni is master songwriter, so didnt really need a "song". A true colloboration would have been interesting but I think the both of them are too Alpha in this department that it wouldnt of worked.

No sure what Prince song is most in Joni's voice but Sometimes it Snows in April probably owes a lot to "The Last Time I Saw Richard"

Maybe Power Fantastic?

All I know is Susanah Hoffs should have had a windfall of material.

Joni's delivery could have saved a lot of songs that would be mismatches. She could sing the planning codes in your town and make it sound lyrical.

Sometimes It Snows In April.....I can easily hear her sing this in my head. Just her on guitar and maybe Prince on piano....

I actually can hear Joni Mitchell singing Emotional Pump.

Many of Mitchell's songs are built on repeated melodic or lyrical refrains. That main horn riff throughout the song is very repetitive.

The whole vibe is latin jazz.

I'd be surprised if Joni Mitchell didn't at least record her vocal to this, and lock it in her own vault.

1. "Crazy You"

2. "Raspberry Beret"

3. "Take Me with You"

4. "Starfish & Coffee"

5. "I Wish U Heaven"

6. "Joy In Repition"

7. "The Arms of Orion"

8. "Dinner With Delores"

9. "Sweet Baby"

as a longtime Joni Mitchell fan, with her vocal range and singing style, i think these songs wouldve been a pefect album of songs to cover

Emotional Pump is more in line with Sheena Easton than Joni Mitchell. I cannot imagine Joni even considering it. Surly it was a dare or meant to provoke a response in Joni. If not, he didn’t understand her as an artist.
