To my future self: you have to play something other than "Big Tall Wall v1" and "Blanche" and "Strange Relationship" over and over. Please. Stop now.

Yeah, I think I'm going to go over to TIDAL now and check it out. You know my Aunt's sister's cousin's nephew knows a guy who's won participation awards for mastering techniques. So I'll have him/her check it out as well and I'll let you all know...in about 14 days once I get back from my inevitable exile...

The good news is that you could definitely bootstrap a competing forum in those two weeks. Call it PrinceOrg.com or something.

In particular I'm really looking forward to hearing Bernie's work on the drums for "It"

I don't think it'll be brickwalled at all, and I certainly don't think Bernie will kill the groove. They say you can't really predict the future, but one thing I can say for sure, hearing Bernie's work on those "It" drums will not leave me absolutely gutted, but rather in a wonderful mood from hearing his professional and time-tested mastering work.

Some fellow on Twitter said Bernie’s remaster was bad. Not sure who he is but he had a lot of followers. Maybe I should cancel.

It's a secret Frankenstein mix tracklist only available to a certain few VIPs. Don't ask em to share it. Just know it exists. You're welcome!

I hear Bernie Grundman is directly responsible for the packaging of SOTT SDE not fitting on my shelf next to 1999SDE. Gutted.

...And the brickwalling.

Waiting for the rest of #23's review then off to look for a forum where threads aren't locked or removed.

Wanna drop a reminder too that we all know the PR remaster was a compressed mess but the rest of the set was remastered by Bernie and are much more dynamic and full sounding. There has been nothing that Bernie has touched so far with these sets that have any sort of compromised dynamics

And the dynamics of the Vault tracks released thus far have been not just good, but excellent. In Bernie I trust!

I'm a Prime Member who got 1999 Deluxe 3 days after release and I ordered it 30 seconds after it was posted for sale.

There will be a leak as soon as the physical product is on the way to the stores, if not earlier.

I have mine preordered from day one, but in case shipping is slow, I'm confident I'll have something to listen to on or before the 25th.

Velvet Kitty Kat sounded like it came from a 5th-gen cassette that was left underwater. Wonderful Ass was so shrill it's almost unlistenable. The rest is fine. 1999 outtakes were wayyyyy better sounding.

With those tracks, and many others on the PR set, the mastering was okay in terms of dynamics and EQ but with source tapes that are high generation tapes or cassete copies, even Bernie can only make the material sound decent up to a point. I truly hope Bernie can one day for example, master Computer Blue Hallway with a first gen tape transfer in high definition.

I am glad that the Estate got the Vault situation at least sort of figured out for every release besides PR Deluxe and Moonbeam on 4Ever, you can hear the benefit of having access to the original tapes with the versions of Witness that were remastered for this set
