Unreleased Demo's up for auction!!! ❤

Hi All, just wondering if anyone had seen these unreleased demo's up for auction this Tuesday coming? One is the demo for concrete jungle with Rosie Gaines and the other is the demo for the Flash/MC Flash project with Margie Cox! Both have been fully authenticated by Roger Epperson the number one authenticator in the business! The Margie cox one has the cover version of 'Fire' which is totally unheard! That song alone is not available in the public domain. The fact that he has personally hand written the track list on both tapes is amazing! I love the Margie cox one in particular. Here is the link to the auction https://bit.ly/PrinceTapes

Funny thing is if we were smart and a little organized as a community, what we should actually do is set up a crowdfund, buy them collectively, leak the songs and give the original cassettes to some charity to auction again.
Just saying...

That's a really good point!

I guess we could arrange something for future auctions. The question is, who do we trust to put in charge of it? Furthermore, how do we decide where to prioritise how much is spent on what when a tape does become available?

IDK. There are a few people here I'd trust to both have the integrity not to steal the tapes and to have the technical skills to make a proper transfer (which I don't). So for me the people aren't the problem. As for the money I guess the limit is how much money could be earned on the crowdfund (the choice of the priority tape could be voted by participants). And as for the charity I think Mayte's dog shelter could be a good option (who doesn't like dogs?). You know we could do it right now for these tapes. But somehow I don't think there's enough of trust in the community to involve enough people to get enough money (obviously we'd need several dozen people at least because most of us couldn't invest more than 50-100 bucks at best). IDK. Let's see if anyone else reacts positively. If we get 50 people saying I'm in in this thread, then we'll know we're unto something.

Great idea! Should try and do it with these ones! Especially the Margie Cox! That cover of fire is gold dust!

It's a good idea. I'd be interested but not for these tapes. Count me in for any other auction dealing with unheard Prince demos. The '78 tape of acoustic demos put for auction a few years ago is a good example.

Not interested in spending money in associated artists tapes though.

Prince plays all instruments and provides backing vocals on them. They were recorded at Paisley Park and he has handwritten the track lists on them. Rosie Gaines provides lead vocals on that tape and Margie Cox provides lead vocals on the other tape.

Yeah it's a good idea to say for how much because if people are all in for 1 buck ha ha biggrin

.

I'd easily put 50 bucks into the mix, if only for the fun of unearthing some uncirculating things. EDIT: Oh, fuck it, make it 100, it doesn't happen every day lol

Except it totally isn't unheard lol .
These two tapes have been copied and have been traded around for decades.
I've seen these exact tracklists offered online 20 years ago so they are circulating among some.
Would be cool if these would leak now.

I have searched high and low to find that copy of 'fire' but I was told it wasn't in the public domain. And after trying to find it I can find any evidence of it? I love these tapes though especially with his hand written track list. Very, very rare. I think with the listing stating that they are the only original copies in existence, I think most of the tracks have obviously been heard but these are the original demos. Very cool.👍

"Fire" isn't totally unheard. Plenty of folks have it, it just hasn't reached bootlegs to my knowledge. This tape also is just a slip from the bootleg trading scene, not Prince's personal copy (this is going off of the other 300 tapes that the original auctioneer was selling on eBay for 15$ a piece)

Wouldn't bother with it, people...

the funny thing is that if this were just on some random bootleg and i heard about it i probably wouldn't bother seeking it out, but if i'm putting money down for it? it's gotta be the best thing since sliced bread.

This isn't a slip from the bootleg scene though. Prince has personally handwritten the track lists on these tapes. These have originally come direct from Prince's hand. They are the originals. I spoke to the auction house and they informed me that not only have they been authenticated twice including full authentication by Roger Epperson just last week! But The Prince Estate have also confirmed that they are genuine. These guys are the experts. If someone was selling these for $15 a piece then they were extremely foolish!

Great idea!
But:
Who should get the Cassette / CD?
And if this person decides to keep it, what are we gonna do?
And if this person puts it on an auction again, and decides to keep the money for him-/herself?

Take or leave my word. I know what I saw with the original eBay sale that ended at 353$ 2 months ago and then resurfaced in another eBay auction at (bundled with the Rosie tape this time) 25,000$ with a (likely bullshit) C.O.A that the tape was allegedly "the sole master besides the masters in the Prince vault" (which is confirmed bullshit and should be a sign to anyone with a more than a few braincells that the auctioneers have no clue what they're talking about...)

I get what your saying but if you look through the description, they have listing aside from the COA, they were also fully authenticated last week by Roger Epperson who as you probably know is the number one authenticator in the business. I don't disbelieve what you're saying as they are very distinctive but Was the original seller that sold for $353 the same as the seller that listed for the $25,000? Because with them being listed just 2 months later, it sounds like the person that listed them for $25,000 had maybe bought them for $353 from someone who was unaware of what they were and then had them authenticated? For Roger Epperson to authenticate them in addition to a previous authentication then they have to be genuine. These guys are experts in their fields and don't just give out COA's without going through the full authentication process. It isn't the auctioneers saying this, it's the experts.
