Mark was jamming with Prince at Paisley Park coming up to the end, sometimes it was Prince BrownMark and MonoNeo

I listened to one in which he stated that Prince didn't hire him a year before he died due to needing a female bassist because he was getting ready to form an all girl band. . I hope you know 3rdeyegirl was formed in 2012 and ended in early 2015. Ida was hired at least two years before that. Prince was getting ready to do the piano and microphone tour in 2015. I am sorry but it sounds like Mark was saving face there.

Also, Prince said in 2015, that he originally hired Ida because the old bassist who used to work for him that he was thinking of re-hiring didn't know nearly as much of his catalogue as she did. hmmm. I always wondered whom he was talking about. Prince not coming to the hotel room or forgetting about him was Mark's story from 2008. 2008 was a not a year for working with Prince...he barely performed, didn't release an album, didn't tour (was sued by Irish promoters) and according to Ruth Arzate was in pain due to his hips and trying to keep it on the down-low.. So, maybe things were complicated on Prince's side.

Listen to Brownmark's recent lengthy and informative interview on the "Prince Podcast". He discusses the entire story (or stories).

Receipts? I knew about MonoNeon, Prince, Michael Bland, Kirk Johnson all at various points jamming together at Paisley. Hadn't heard or read anything about Mark. Oh wait was that when Mark tried to say Prince was senile because he called a bass a guitar. Maybe, he wanted Mark to play a regular guitar because MonoNeon is a bass player.

Okay, giving mark the benefit of the doubt about the jamming.

But it is still a fact like there is no way Mark was in talks a year before Prince died to work for him but Prince chose not to because he had to hire a female for his all girl band. Mark's timeline doesn't work there and it is quite disappointing that he would fib about the last time he talked to Prince.

Very aware of Ida, the formation (and demise) of 3rd Eye...I was a fan of that project too and followed them... Old Friends is correct on his information.

His words are not receipts. Plus, like I said, if you listen to the interview he claimed that the last time he talked to Prince was a year before his death and they were in talks at the time to work together but it did not work out because Prince was hiring a female bassist for his all girl band. Either Mark was mistaken about the last time he talked to Prince or he is full of shit about the reason he wasn’t hired. Both scenarios are disappointing. Mark did not imply that they were on hiatus and prince did not need a bassist due to the fact that he was going to reform them. He said they were in talks to start something but prince decided on STARTING an all girl band instead.’

It might a generational thing, but I'm not understanding what receipts are in this discussion.
You asked me for receipts.

.
the year before Prince's death, Prince was having the health issues and planning the piano Microphone tour to help assist dealing with the pain and getting off the pills

But Prince was still jamming with Mark (and MOno) during the 3rd Eye Girl time period

savagedreams

it was the 80's. (most, if not) all bass was treated unfairly in the mix. in every genre. even mixes that had bass prominent in the mix it was thin and bright with no big bottom.

for starters, i've never heard anything about brownmark jamming with prince especially when he was in 3EG mode. Even when they were on hiatus, he brought in mononeon. so....outside of brown mark saying this, who else can provide some insight? because this is my first time hearing this.

Ida was around from 2010-2015 so i'm confused. he used Gouche and Mono neon outside of her.

Lol are you serious? Your Revolution bias is that deep? Knowing somebody has nothing to do with jamming. He knew a lot of people and he also didn’t deal with or jam with people on a regular basis. Come on man
