Prince cursing after becoming JW? Just wondering if there are any recorded instances of Prince forgetting to censor himself post-conversion? The closest I can think of is him kinda/almost saying "damn" (muffled) during Housequake at the NAACP Awardws performance. Until I find the righteous one... |

Prince's "no cursing" was fluid, at best in his dogma years. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

Who was it that said Prince had to put money in the swear jar "because sometimes you just forget". It's all so silly. Sounds. Some are bad, some are good.
Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me. |

I saw him perform live on the 2004 Musicology tour. He was on his, “Real music by real musicians” kick, and Britney Spears had played the same arena a few days before. He called her out, saying something like, “Please tell me you did not have a mutha-fuckin lip-syncher up on this stage!” To this day, I’m not sure if it was a slip or if he said “mother funking.”

This was back in '99 when he was right in the midst of his conversion, but during that performance of "Baby Knows" from that "Rave" DVD, he clearly says: "She'll make U feel like U ain't...."
Then, he steps 2 the side, blatantly mouths the word "SHIT" and carries on. If only he'd released it with that lyric! |

Didn't he slip up on 'Baby Knows' during TFI Firday as well? At the end he said "like i said before, i'm so sorry..." never knew what he was apologising for although at the time i read somewhere that he had swore by mistake??? Anyone know? 3121... Don't U Wanna Come? |

Is this out on a bootleg? That show isn't included on the Revelation (SAB) release I have. Until I find the righteous one... |

He sang "This party's going HAM" on Hit & Run Ph 1 in 2015. That's short for Hard As a Motherfucker. Does that count as cursing?

You and I must have been reading the same articles back then, cuz I heard the same. Dunno if that footage is out there, though I never saw it back then. |

Just found it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYFOo4gvNbM
If you listen closely enough, he's stopping himself from saying:
"U need 2 strip her down."
THAT'S what he apologises for, not swearing! |

He cursed without saying the actual words. Sometimes he'd make the audience say the words, sometimes he'd use euphemisms... In the end, it's all the same, just with added hypocrisy. I don't understand the big deal about cursing as being bad. I just don't understand it. Paisley Park is in your heart - Love Is Here! |

Sometimes he would substitute music for his cussing. For the song "if I was the man in your life",it's used right after the lyric "he like the Lakers but the sixers on when he came"
Not really cursing but risky for a JW [Edited 9/1/20 9:13am]

What's your interpretation of that line? I find it interesting and some kind of sexual play on words, but I'm not sure what exactly.
