Because Prince always went to gigs without his instruments.

Funny, Steel Panther almost got onto the Grammy ballot...

"The record's success also caught the attention of the Grammys, making it onto the "Best Comedy Album" ballot in October 2010, yet failing to reach a nomination."

You must be pretty young. A lot of artists didn’t like Prince’s rude/arrogant attitude during the height of Purple Rain, at award shows, people including other artists, were told that they couldn’t speak to or look at him. This was a turn-off to many people at the time. Of course, anyone who has been around as I have, has heard stories like this for many years from people who worked with him and others who only met him.

It seems as if the same artists who were at first turned off by this rude or arrogant behavior began to accept it as “rock star” behavior because of his talent and success.

i dont know if youve heard brownmark's recent podcast interview but he said Lisa Coleman and even Mark's mother had to talk him out of whooping P's ass on different occasions... Prince was physically abusing dude...kicking him in the ass with high heeled boots for making mistakes in rehearsal...WTF is that?.... brownmark aint the average "suburban" dude from the Twin Cities...of course he left...there's more than a few reasons why strong alpha-male brothers like Andre, Dez, Miko, and Morris left Prince (or were fired) for good...they refused to submit to his occassional but recurring asshole-diva antics...i loved the man and his music but its quite obvious he gave no fucks about most peoples' feelings

I listened to two of them.

A couple things. Prince was wrong to kick Brown and I get why his pride was hurt and he wanted to kick his ass. But even he said, it didn't really hurt. Prince was 22 or 23 years old...young dudes under pressure make mistakes. Even with all of his faults, we can at least acknowledge that kicking doesn't appear to have been something he repeated with other male musicians. How he felt about other people's feelings only he knows.

As for the other men you referenced, they are not above reproach especially Morris Day who had a cocaine problem and according to Alan Leeds was a pain in the ass on the set of Purple Rain. I know Prince could be tough and didn't pay a ton at the time..but its odd no one acknowledges that Prince had handlers, was financially over-extended in his pre-purple rain days and still owed money to WB for Dirty mind not making enough profit..

As for Dez, he claimed he was only going to stay for a set period of time and had bigger ambitions. Miko, according to an interview posted on this very site, said he and Prince reconciled after their argument and that he eventually left because of the kiss-asses around him and that he and Prince were cool (in fact, Miko actually defended Prince against W and L recently in a comment section under the article about their recent podcast...saying they take too much credit)

Andre was never kicked but left due to credits. but they reconciled and were on good terms after the 2000's.

To assume Prince never had regrets about his behavior is unfair. People act impulsively and don't always think before they act.

Also, another thing to put things in perspective. Mark Brown lied about the last time he talked to prince in one of the podcasts I heard. He said he talked to him a year before he died and they thinking about working on something together but he got a female (Ida) instead because he was starting an all-girl band. Wrap your head around that timeline. Also, Ida was hired before 3rdeyegirl was formed. So grain of salt...

There is no evidence Prince assaulted Mark Brown, anymore than there is evidence that Wendy and Lisa are co-authors of SOTT. Morris did hit Prince though... https://www.youtube.com/w...eY-z4Ns7xs

.

If Mark Brown were submissive to the demands of being a professional musican, he wouldn't have quit in 1992. Take a peek at bassist Carol Kaye's resume - https://en.wikipedia.org/...Carol_Kaye

what do you mean, "there's no evidence"?..so now you're implying Mark may be lying?... ok, i guess your words are more reliable than Mark's... and to compare the working conditions and careers of Carol Kaye and Browmark has no relevance to P putting his boot on Marks ass.

In the podcast Brown also says:

"Right before Prince passed a year before he passed, he had flown me up to Minneapolis because he wanted me to look into a project with him. This new thing he was putting together - it ended up being 3rdEyeGirl - which, I'm not a girl so I didn't fit the bill, but it was going to be something different for that. So we got to talking and... "

.

3rdEyeGirl was put together in 2012 (not 2015) their album Plectrumelectrum was released in 2014. Bassist Ida Nielson had been working with Prince from 2010. So Prince did not fly Brown out in 2015 for the project as claimed.

.

There is no more evidence that Prince assaulted Mark Brown than there is that Appollonia wrote Glamorous Life. Conditions of work, you mean being employed by a top artist at Warner Bros. who Peggy McCreary said spent 18 hours a day with her alone in the studio? Ask any professional musician what it takes to work in the industry - Mark quit, and comes out now after Prince has died, to 'tell stories' and make some cash. What has he done of note in music since 1986?

Those bums had instruments that were played and broken by PRINCE + $100. Shit, they came out ahead when you consider the overall appreciated value.

thats a juvenile way to look at it.. how about the fact that a grown man should respect another grown man's personal property?.. and also if that respect is breached, there are consequences and repercussions, which may include a beat-down followed by security/police intervention

Wow. Some of you are sycophants of the highest order.

You can tell who the non-musicians are on this thread. You are very dismissive about Prince breaking someone's instruments with that tone of condescension as if they should be honored. You are projecting your own feelings.

Most musicians would want to kick his ass and rightfully so.

I couldn't see him doing that to a black band's gear.

Big Chick ain't got nothin' on "big click".

I know guys who would have beat Prince's manager's ass, gave Prince back his money and his broken manager and said "fix him" and left.

And most musicians DON'T want to sell their instruments just because someone famous played them. Its funny that some of the same people who fawn over Prince's guitars and argue over which was his favorite couldn't think that other musicians couldn't have the same attachments to their instruments as well.

The nerve of some of you!

Prince smashes property that's not his is okay but them complaining about it is not?

FOH, fan-addicts.

If someone broke my guitar, I wouldn't want the cost of repairs plus 100 bucks, insturments are tempromental and it isn't a guarantee they play the same post-repair. Appreciated value doesn't mean anything in that regard

Yes so if that is true, then Kirk and Dr. Schulenberg would be liable in this murder case.

How didn't the police find this information?

Murder case?

EDIT: Regarding your last question, did you read the files? I think it's said that the police strongly believed that kirk eithet knew where the pills came from, or that he bought them himself or something. He's being disliked by the fans for a reason. Him, meron and the other one I forgot the name.

Yes.

And I did read (some of the) files.

The fact that no witnesses from his direct circle, or even the doc come forward means they know they are in deep shit if they talked.

As I explained before:
Prince agreed to go this route.

He was sloppy in some things, even care for his body.
