A Prince Acts Box Set! It would be SOOOOO COOL if somewhere down the line, a box set consisting of all of Prince's acts were to be remastered/released with vault and other bonus tracks! The Time, Vanity 6, Apollonia 6, Madhouse, Mazurati, Sheila E, Jill Jones, Taja Seville, The Family, etc...stuff like that all housed within one beautiful boxed set. Anyone else like 2c this happen someday? <3 Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

I doubt this would ever happen, due to legal issues(?), but an interesting concept. I’d just like to see each album remastered as 2 or 3 cd sets.

You'd have to make a clear distinction between different acts though. (btw, maybe a different word is needed, I expected a box with his movies and other acting roles by Prince. From Dick Clark to New Girl!) . Anyway, different type of acts: . 1-Prince alter-egos, or bands that were created by Prince and had pretty much just Prince songs The Time Vanity 6 Appolonia 6 Sheila E The Family Jill Jones Madhouse 3EG NPG . 2-Paisley Park bands that he worked with to some extend and that got a few songs on their albums Mazarati Taja Sevelle Mavis Staples George Clinton Eric Leeds (this is arguable, but the Eric Leeds albums did not have much Prince input) . 3-Paisley Park acts that maybe got a Prince song but didn't have much to do with him Dale Kahoru Kohiruimaki Tony LeMans Good Question . 4-basically what should be the "Originals" type tracks. Things that he gave to other artists that released them on their albums, on other labels, with no other Prince tracks and no Prince involvement on the album other than that track. Telepathy, Eternity, 101, Hey Mister, You Are My Love, Love Song, Manic Monday, Dance Electric, Baby Go Go, The Sex Of It, etc. . I'm sure I've missed quite a few in all of those categories. The thing is, even for category 1 the rights are a mess. Most of those acts got separate contracts with WB (even if the album was on "Paisley Park"), which may/will have different clauses from Prince's and will not have been taken into account in the overal negotiations of Prince's work. So, while I think "deluxe" rereleases of any of those albums would be great, I doubt we'll see them, let alone a coordinated combining. Paisley Park is in your heart - Love Is Here!

. Do you really think 'the Estate' has the brains to figure this out? See the stuff they produced until now. Where's the mission? Where's the strategy? Where's the plan? . Meanwhile them lawyerleaches are wasting millions in fees and whatnot. . End result: Heirs that get less money than thought and fans that get less than thought. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

There's probably a bigger chance of this happening than full reissues anyway. I'd say we'll eventually get the hard to find albums on cd again, but don't go expecting the Prince vocal versions,we'll be lucky if we get the 12" mixes.

This is a fantastic idea.
Always thought they should have done a Now That's What I Call Prince compilation in his heyday. Just imagine the first 3 songs alone: I Feel For U Manic Monday Nothing Compares To U Pure quality. [Edited 7/23/20 15:51pm]

Thanks 4 all the thoughts on this, every-1! Prob'ly never happen as a boxed set, BUT, it would be aMAZING if WB remastered & reissued some of the stuff like V6, A6 (as a twofer), Madhouse (another 2fer), etc... There really IS SO MUCH 2b done, but it all DOES COME DOWN 2 the $, the licensing and of course, the fans (on the bottom, sadly.) Much luv and b safe! <3 Hungry? I'm in this for a Madhouse Superdeluxe; 8, 16, and all it's b-sides and remixes. Hell, even the videoclips, both 24's. Throw in The Flesh and some more unreleased jams and I am INNNN.

It certainly is an intriguing idea but there is a bit of blurriness as to what should and should not be included. I'd imagine albums where Prince was involved in every song would get the green light, but there are some borderline cases that make the logistics of this hard to imagine. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

The concept of this thread reminded me of the compilation series from years ago that were dedicated to James Brown's artists such as Lyn Collins, Marva Whitney, The JBs etc I thought that was such a great extensive overview of his work with other artists. Here's hoping something like that materializes

. Yeah, those were great series. The complicating factor is that those James Brown acts were released in the singles era, where albums weren't really the thing, so it is relatively easy to get a good overview with a cd/album. If that were done for Prince satellite bands, it's more problematic, since they were all albums. . It would work, of course, for all the miscelaneous tracks he sent left & right, which were mostly one-offs. I think that's that what the Originals series should be. (no tracks done by Prince acts, the Mazarati 100mph was just far enough removed to qualify, imo. The Sheila E tracks were mystefying to me for such a relase, although I loved Holly Rock) Just make it all double albums with the Prince versions and the released versions. As for the actual Prince bands, it's going to be much harder to come up with the killer form to release it in. Paisley Park is in your heart - Love Is Here!

As stated above, I think a great idea would be to do the original album + the prince versions as a second disc. Release one or two every Record Store Day; Have them be semi-related to that year's deluxe release;

I would love to have a remastered Apollonia 6 CD and a remastered Mazarati CD.

can you imagine the massive, glory huntiing egos & the fights over royalties!!

I am just imaginging nicely done remasters of the original albums plus the Prince sung versions of these albums... RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Not really. The copyrights and royalties shoudl already be documented at ASCAP as they were back in the day so...

I like that idea of the box set option of all the associated artists that was under the Prince umbrella! I would definitely shell out some $ to own this piece of music and history. Jamie Starr Productions, Paisley Park Records and NPG records presents..the other Artists brought to you by Prince!
