Sick of the hits?

What popular or hit Prince song would you be just fine not hearing ever again for the rest of your life; and, conversely, what is one song that you could literally listen to every day and never get sick of it?

I rarely go to play any of the hits tbh, as they're all too overplayed.

Two classic tracks which never fail to give me the feels no matter how much I've heard them are Nothing Compares 2 U (the Prince/Rosie Gaines version) and Sign O The Times.

I might get roasted for this, but I am so over Purple Rain. Meanwhile I could listen to Strange Relationship on a loop all day.

The main time I hear the hits if I am listeining to his concerts. I don't respond to some of the hits the way I used to, but I don't have a negative reaction to any of them like pop songs in the past that I just couldn't stand them anymore due to being overplayed. And I have to admit, I always enjoy Purple Rain in concert because each time he does something a little different with it.

I felt the 'wear' live more than studio. I saw him live a couple of hundred times, and I got bored of particular songs or arrangements, particularly the Take Me With U / Raspberry Beret segue, the traditional version of Lets Go Crazy and Purple Rain.

That said, in the last concert I saw him (Private charity gig at the Koko London). when he did Purple Rain, I remember really enjoying it and thinking, this might be the last time I ever hear it. Weird.

One song I never get sick of hearing is “When Doves Cry” music it still sounds new and fresh to me.

I am tired of “Kiss”,though.

I could easily live the rest of my life without hearing;

Purple Rain
Kiss
U Got The Look
Nothing Compares 2 U
Raspberry Beret

And I could hear these songs everyday and never get tired of them;

If I Was Your Girlfriend
Let's Work
Sexy Dancer
DMSR
Computer Blue

There are more songs I could put in both categories but these 5 are the first to come to mind.

Good topic!

I would prefer not to hear "Kiss" again.

I do not get sick of "The Love We Make."

The Dance Electric (Andre Cymone released version)
She's Always in My Hair

Love Song

Pink Cashmere

Forever In My Life

Strange Relationship

It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night

Come

Of course not but I don't listen to a "hits collection". I listen to Prince albums all the way through and some of them have hits and they're just part of the whole.

I've always detested The Most Beautiful Girl in the World. Not keen on P when he goes all Liberace.

I couldn't stand the song when it came out, and although I like it slightly better now it will never be a favorite of mine.

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I hear you. The trad arrangements of Take Me With U / Raspberry Beret for Hit N Run II in 2014 just did nothing for me and took away from the 3rdEyeGirl sound.

And at 21 Nights in London, on night 20, I found myself having no problem stepping out of the main arena to take a phone call during U Got The Look.

I'm sick of a few of them, but not too many. Kiss and Raspberry Beret are among the ones I'm sick of.
