Hopefully a 2cd Originals II will come out (Xmas/next year?) and a lot more of these Prince 'versions' will come out. I'd like them to go a bit deeper into the 90s and beyound.

im well aware The Glamorous Life was "never meant for him to keep"... its still a "prince song i wish he kept for himself", which is the title of the thread

Prince(Glamorous Life - Originals) meh
Sheila E(Glamorous Life -GL) OMG

has Prince ever performed the Glamorous Life live w/o Sheila E?

You might have but I haven't.
It's not officially been released.

Yes definitely "The Sex Of It" - also I think "Come Home" , "Cool Love" & especially "Shall We Dance" would have been great as Prince released songs.

It's good. It's worth an 'Originals' release

I would love the Prince, Wendy and Lisa version of this without all the sound effects in perfect quality.
Or, a Prince solo version would also be great.
I don't really like that full blown version with the telephone ringing and everything.

Most of these songs built on his legend. By giving great songs away it shows the depth of his talent and catalog. It also builds on the already legendary period in the 80s. He was putting out enough of his own material. Using other vessels was smart. And let's be honest, his re-recordings of some of his legendary material hasn't been great. The Time songs for instance allowed the creation of a "rival" band created by Prince. Who does that. That is legend right there. Why change that or weaken it.

Sure there's a few songs that may have better served Prince if he kept them, that didn't have a big impact on the artists or his career view such as Telepathy or If I could get your attention....but most of his class A giveaways had important musical impact (The Time, Sheila E, Sheena Easton). And albums that landed without as much fanfare, such as Jill Jones or The Family, have shown his unbelievable prolifically...man his 80s output is legendary. Only the Beatles run in the 60s may have been equal or better. I would hate to have overproduced versions from the 90s or 2000s. Not to say everything was overproduced but there is certainly some of that in his revisions...Extraloveable version updated anyone?

Dear Michelangelo is so bizzare in that great Prince way, one of my favorites. Does anyone know if there is a version of Mia Bocca with Prince on vocals? Would love to hear that...

On the flip side Mica Paris's version of If I Luv U 2nite is gorgeous.
