Cosmic Day with an animated video would be so cool as the first single. That Camille sound is timeless.

Remixes instead of Girl O My Dreams, Can’t Stop, We CanFunk 86?? I don’t care that we already have previous versions, these should have been included man Michael Howe’s position should be like an elected official — we the purple people should vote the purple politicians in! I’d vote for Questlove to take over everything

Now that I got my whining out the way, I’M SO EXCITED TO HEAR IN A LARGE ROOM WITH NO LIGHT IN PRISTINE AUDIO QUALITY AND THE 1979 VERSION OF I COULD NEVER TAKE THE PLACE OF YOUR MAN

Isnt When the Dawn of the Morning comes A instrumental ? Im looking forward to Walking In Glory the most,Unless Wally is the proper original version that Miss Rodgers was banging on about

Leaving out Girl O My Dreams completely leaves me hope that these might be on some other release. Agree that they are essential.

[Edited 6/24/20 9:28am] No, whats funny is people willing to have Michael Howe over Questlove or anyone else Howe has done an exceptional job. But him censoring Lust U Always and Extraloveable off of 1999 SDE has shown he’s not willing to truly honor Prince’s legacy over how idiots might misinterpret the song/lyrics. Who knows what else we’re missing?

The Vault is not updated on the statut of all songs ....sometimes they listed some versions and not the others because they can't be aware of everything in the Vault !
PS > iam impatient to listen BLANCHE for example !

I understood in this present climate, why they were left off.

I think "Blanche" is basically an instrumental with some vocals but not much in the way of lyrics. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

of course absolutely not.....but anyway....it doesn't matter !

That was me who asked him. I only asked because he showed all the vinyl behind him and I instantly saw SOTT in the front of the stack. He was very vague.

Agreed! I can't believe we're getting this remix instead of U Got The Look (banjo version), Euphoria Highway, Crucial (guitar version), etc....
Just listen to me - big whiny-ass bitch... [Edited 6/24/20 10:18am] "I like to watch."

My 2 cents: . - The B-sides and remixes CD lacks the music video versions of U Got The Look and ICNTTPOYM? but since both are in the movie it's possible this is related to a rights problem. Sadly, the Razormaid Mix of Housequake isn't included either (it was released on a Razormaid compilation so technically counts as released in connexion to the album), but again it's possible there is a rights issue with Razormaid, IDK. . - The 3 CDs of outtakes sound fine to me. The most blatant omission is the Dream Factory Musical suite (Can't Stop, Data Bank, We Can Funk, Girl O' My Dreams), but admitedly they couldn't include everything anyway, and that leaves material for future releases. . - I'm a bit confused with the includion of 1979 and 1985 material, since 1999 Deluxe suggested they took the approach to release the material based on release date not the project it ended on (or was considered for), but whatever, I've reached the point where I don't care what they release as long as they release something and it's not hybrid posthumous mixes such as what we got on Originals. . - As pointed by others, it won't be totally possible for us to recreate any DF, Camille or CB config with the material included there. I think it's better that way because, as suggested by someone, those early album configurations would make perfect RSD releases. Prince left many work in progress configurations behind him, and if the estate was to release one or 2 each year for RSD, this would make many a fan happy. Hopefully they'll consider it. Then, sequencing (including the length of silence between tracks) could be respected and we'd get exactly what Prince tried. . - I'm fine with the shows, too. I just hope they can and will mix the video show as well, not give usabootleg sounding thing like the 1999 video show (I'm still unsure whether they couldn't or wouldn't mix and clean-up this one). Just listen to me - big whiny-ass bitch... [Edited 6/24/20 10:18am] Euphoria Highway is better suited to a Parade SDE, I think. We don't know what the version of Crucial even is beyond "alternate lyrics" so it may well be the guitar version. I also don't think UGTL's so called banjo version even exists though there was a demo done before Sheena was involved and it was very different at that point.

With all due respect, Mr. Howe did everything but an admirable job. There have literally been problems with every posthumous release: - Fake posthumous edit of Let's Work on 4ever (not sure if M. Howe was involved). - Sound glitches on Erotic City and Computer Blue on PR Deluxe + material missing from the b-sides/mixes CD + mistitling of Possessed + the Our Destiny/Roadhouse Garden crossfade appears to be a posthumous fake mix made from 2 different cassettes (and not even faithful to the original crossfade according to traders who have it). - Fake posthumous mix of NC2U on the single, then again on Originals. - Pitch problem and other sound issues with the P&AM83 release, that according to the engineers here could have been corrected at least to a certain extent. - At least half of Originals is made of fake posthumous mixes (and Niko Bolas' Peach and Black interview sheds some light on the totally erratic method that was used to determine which version of each track would be "recreated"). - Hiring Niko Bolas in the first place, who is undoubtebly a great professional, but one who (by his own admission) knew nothing about Prince's music beforehand. Even if the engineers who worked on early to mid 80's material are retired, I'm sure many of the engineers Prince used later in his career are still available to do the job. - The Versace Experience apparently sourced from cassette (if the master was lost then they should have said it). - Material missing from the 1999 Deluxe b-sides/mixes CD + little to no effort to improve the sound quality of the video concert + I'm still unsure whether ALL the mixes were as faithful to Prince's cassette mixes as they could have been (but, admitedly, they seem to be way more faithful than the ones on Originals). .
Now I'm not saying Mr. Howe's job is easy: accidents can happen, posthumous mixes will never be exactly like the cassettes mixes, etc., but certain things in the list above were deliberate choices, either because Mr. Howe took artistic licence, or possibly, in some cases, to minimize expanses. In the end the good news is that all of the above can be rereleased with the problems fixed, one day in the future, but I don't trust this man to do the best possible job, and probably never will after this sad series of fiascos.
