Good luck finding Nilsen's book. I've seen some copies going for over $120 because it is not in print anymore. "You know, this is funky but I wish he'd play like he used to, old scragglyhead son of a...*smack* OOH!"

Duane Tudahl's book is my favorite of all time so far. For me this book's presentation of the era is exactly the type of Prince book I have always wanted, where it is based all around the recording sessions and tour dates. Getting super in-depth with the construction of the songs and seeing how they were recoreded, when, the process of tracking and overdubbing and revisiting songs, the edits, etc. | |
