I just can't see the appeal for that album it's his most overrated album within his fan base.

I think I've learned for a lot of his fanbase the whole "positivity" "Sunday songs" etc. sentiment goes a looong way.

Come is interesting, dark, different.

Emancipation is ambitious and all over the place so i kinda love it for that. You can notice he was trying to say 'HERE I AM'.

Parade deserves a better placement.

But at least this isn't another conventional list that every fan agrees.

Rusty, calling pretty much any opinion that disagrees with your top 10 bad or laughing at any other opinion is getting a bit old. We all have different opinions of what we think is his best work, let's chillax a bit and have fun talks. All of us having different 10 top Prince albums is what makes discussion fun, it shouldn't be this way

though I do love your gimmick of quoting and replying to your own posts to make it seem like there's more affirmative discourse/agreement with your own content than there actually is. I will be stealing that, and although it may never reach the vaulted heights of my Top 5 posting gimmicks I will always consider it a classic.

Add me to your list of those who exist and don't have 1999 in my top 10. My first album was Controversy and of course I own every album, many boots, etc, all of which to say my credentials are also solid. I loved 1999 when it came out. But my top 10 doesn't include it, sorry, not sorry.

Call me crazy (and I know some do), but I put, at a minimum, the following ahead of 1999: Lovesexy, D&P, [love symbol], Controversy, Dirty Mind, PR, TRC, TGE, Planet Earth (yes, I said it), and HnR 1 ahead of 1999. That's 10. I've never ranked all of his albums because I could never come to say the words "this is Prince's worst album"... but I'd guess 1999 would make my top 15.

Like I've said, art is subjective. But I gotta tell you, 1999 is in my Top 5, coming in at #4, whereas neither Planet Earth or HnR 1 would even crack my Top 15. The court of opinion is just that. But you should know that when you post an opinion, especially one that says HnR 1 is better than 1999, you have to live with how you look to others. Just sayin'...

Art isn't subjective if you appreciate ALL genres and you have intelligence in the area of perception comparable to a deep learning algorithm. Now genuine creativity is a whole different thing, maybe out of the reach of any technology tool.
