Romeoblu said: ThirdStrike said: Everyone keeps referencing another "Originals" set as a possibility. Has there been any real talk about additional volumes or is it simply speculation? I don't remember hearing about anything outside of the first set, thus me asking about it here... I'm sure Michael Howe mentioned a probable follow up in an interview. The first one was widely well received and performed reasonably well commercially so another volume would make sense. Therefore tracks like 101, Come Home etc could be left off with those releases in my mind. Maybe Jerk Out is on volume 2 hence it's no show on 1999 deluxe. Howe also mentioned that they compiled a list of possible tracks for Originals. So it isn't hard to imagine that they also pulled the other songs at the same time. Making a Vol. 2 or more of Originals a certainty.

. Except their CD/DVD releases are exactly the same as the existing ones. Which makes sense because they'd simply need to make a digital copy of an existing disk. The LPs are new masters because a) the albums were never released on vinyl or b) PP did not store the original LP masters and thus new ones had to be created. © Bart Van Hemelen

If this is on the set, here’s a quote from BartVanHemelen about it: ‘Great frikking outtake. Pisses all over Prince's output of the past 15+ years from great height. Astonishing that such great quality outtakes are still "out there".’ https://prince.org/msg/7/...?&pg=2 There may or may not be something coming!

Hey mods - can we please continue to ensure that mega news like is continues to remain unstickyfied! I mean it's not like SOTT was one of his 3 best, most critically acclaimed albums ...oh wait....

I hope that material from external mixers, like Shep Pettibone, will not make the grade. I want Prince stuff, not the horrible mixes that others made. Those hot thing mixes are bad, in fact, almost every external mix has been between bad and atrocious. Give us the multitracks and let us make our own mixes, they can only be better. Yeah was never a big remix guy unless it was done by the artist themselves although I really dig Kruder & Dorfmeisters "Nothing Really Matters" Madonna remix. - https://www.youtube.com/w...kT0BNCsLsY [Edited 6/12/20 13:22pm]

Imagine no Cosmic Day but a Shep Mix of Strange Relationship. That would be criminal.

I never liked the 12" mix of Hot Thing either, although I have a DJ friend in Miami who swears by it. Agree that most outside producers don't mesh with Prince - I'm a fan of Shep Pettibone's work, but even his Glam Slam remix was just OK. That said, I do like the house mix of Thieves In Temple a lot. I think that was Junior Vasquez? It's my best guess that the ICNTTPOYM remix is by Pettibone, but it doesn't bear any of the hallmarks of his '87, '88 sound. He had a distinctive snare that seemed to pop up in most of his remixes of the time. Compare Madonna's "Vogue", a Pettibone production, with his remix of Janet's "Escapade". They're practically the same song, and you wouldn't say that about the album version of Escapade. But I digress. My real question is what will Pettibone's remix of Strange Relationship sound like?? Keep your headphones on.

I kind of like the "Hot Thing" mix... love the "Sugar Walls" quote. But I am mostly not into the mixes by others... *"the Future" "Elecetrri Chair" "Pop life" "Soft and Wet" etc... But most of that may be that I know he did not do them... "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

I don't know... The Soft and Wet disco mix is subtly different - I like the extra synth line that's turned up in the mix in that one. To each their own though. Keep your headphones on.

Yeah, those Hot Thing remixes were the first time I was ever disappointed in a Prince b-side.

that it is mostly an instrumental with some vocalizations but not much if anything in the way of lyrics.

I think the clue is in the wording ‘given in due time’. Wasn't the Bonnie Raitt album on which I Need A Man appeared Nick of Time?

I find the arguing a highlight of my day to be honest. Dread to think what would happen if they stuck an outtake of "Screwdriver" in.. Good job I don't control it, I would not be able to resist
