Violet Reality posted the tracklist. They are in the know and get the scoops. I can't believe Cosmic Day didn't make the set. I live the part I have heard.

and i am wondering if perhaps Questlove was consulted on tracklist too? i'm sure he'd have an opinion, and is a "fan" fan. he knew exactly what he was doing during that dj set...
if you could just pass your history class, baby, life would be all right.

Totally viable. Though I am not always a fan of Quest's tastes so those crucial missing tracks will be very telling. So far, I can count more than 8 or whatever tracks that should be on this set more than, say, two versions of CB.

Holy shit!! That was an extremely informative and respectful response. No yelling or calling me lazy. I'm impressed. Thank you. Appreciate it. Seriously...

I wanna know what the hell that 7 min version of Strange Relationship is. Could it be a remix? It says 1987 so perhaps a 12" mix was done for a potential single. Still surprised to see a 7" mix of CB was done - perhaps a tight little pop dirge was hiding in the epic 10+ min versions.

Don’t know why ppl are complaining... by the way the tracks were numbered & filling those gaps there’s literally 20+ More tracks that are going to be on there.

That's A Place In Heaven - both of which are represented on this tracklist. The title backwards refers to an intro track with loops and samples of various Dream Factory songs on a bed of A Place In Heaven reversed. Thank you. I saw it the next time I read it.

Just gonna play the bootlegs I have and see if Shazam will connect me to their deluxe listing.

The DF version of Strange Relationship is on there previously in the list. And since DF was a double album, it didn't have a 7" mix of CB. Both these should be new to most of us.

No wonder he kept saying to switch over to YouTube. I usually have both on but I didn’t this time. Later on when people were making requests he seemed exasperated ‘cause he knew he’d already thrown some stuff out there. He said he’d already given us some stuff at the beginning. He even said he couldn’t give us more ‘cause he didn’t want to get in trouble (this was in reference to a version of Cloreen Baconskin that he supposedly has). He knew what he was doing. Anyway, that was a nice surprise last night.

On this occasion they appear to know as much as we do. They took the list straight from this thread. They've put Teacher Teacher (1986) as it appears here in the thread. Check QL's stream. Teacher Teacher is actually marked as (1985 version).

Excatly , he's tight w/ the estate so he could just be told to put up a smoke screen. That said I'll be happy with the release overall. Theres always going to be some meat left on the bone when it comes to prince releases..

Still get 13 tracks not listed when filling in those gaps..

If 56 Forever In My Life (Early Vocal Studio R) (06:25) is the way the song was originally intended then I will pay whatever.

I have a strong feeling we still don't have a complete list and here is the math:
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
. #77 onwards make up the live set so the 6:15 Hot Thing is not a studio version. It will presumably include the organ intro as per the SOTT movie, hence the extended length. .

Based on this list there are 8 tracks that have yet to be announced. Seeing how this tracklist is primarily being placed in chronological order it would make sense because there is very little listed that was recorded from October through December 1986. That is where the gap is on this list. In the later part of 86.
What are we missing from those later sessions? Coco Boys When The Dawn Of The Morning Comes Witness 4 The Prosecution (Camile remake) Telepathy (demo)(possibly to be held for an ORIGINALS collection?) Rebirth Of The Flesh Yo Mister (demo)(possibly to be held for an ORIGINALS collection?) Cosmic Day Walkin' In Glory Pony Ride Wally
If you take out the two demos that could be on an ORIGINALS collection you have 8 SONGS RIGHT THERE that still could be on this collection!
- 31 Teacher Teacher (1986 version) (3:07) - 58 - 59 - 60 - 63 - 64 - 65 - 66 - 67
Besides that there are still other tracks missing yes from the earlier sessions. Those include: Conversation Piece Funny Love Twosday And How (Demo) Get On Up Frustration Boy U Bad Baby Go-Go Data Bank Can't Stop This Feeling I Got We Can Funk Girl 'O' My Dreams
IF you add those 8 to the track list it COULD theoretically look like this: - 31 Teacher Teacher (1986 version) (3:07) - 58 COCO BOYS - 59 WHEN THE DAWN OF THE MORNING COMES - 60 WITNEYSS FOR THE PROSECUTION (CAMILLE REMAKE) - 63 REBIRTH OF THE FLESH - 64 COSMIC DAY - 65 WALKIN' IN GLORY - 66 PONY RIDE - 67 WALLY
That is 42 vault tracks or 3 discs of 14 tracks each.

williamb610 said: I wonder what is the significance of Prince and 3:19. The unreleased song on the tracklist, 'It Be's Like that Sometimes' is 3:19. Prince had a song called 319. Da Bang from Crystal Ball is 3:19 long!
Maybe, he thought that was a perfect length for a track!
I'm with AaronReturn2005, though. Where the heck is 'Rebirth of the Flesh'? It should be on here! I’m assuming that you’re joking but incase you’re not, of course there’s a few songs that are 3:19 in length because there’s many hundreds of songs recorded and only 60 seconds in a minute so pick a time between 3 and 6 minutes (a typical song length range) and every duration will likely have multiple examples. If you can show that 3:19 is represented at a significantly higher rate than other durations, then we can discuss if it’s intentional. Gotta show that it’s a thing first. . I think it's 10. . #01-16 would be the Original Album #17-30 the Edits / Remixes / B-sides (finishing with an edit version of ICNTTPOYM) . #77-94 would be the the Live disc (starting with Intro/SOTT and finishing with IGBABN), leaving #31-76 as the Vault tracks (starting with Teacher Teacher (1986 Version) and finishing with Strange Relationship (1987 Sh...) whatever that is) . so I think we're currently missing 58, 59, 60, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 74 and 75 of the vault tracks. .

Fucking hell. Surely we can all agree this is going to be an extraordinary document of one human being’s incomparable proclivity and genius. Imagine you’d never heard any of these songs before. The fact we’re bickering about the inclusion of other great songs from this era beyond these ones says everything. The truth is, Prince - empirically, objectively and quite demonstrably - was clearly the greatest pop musician of all time. It’s absolutely astonishing and rather scary that all this came out the mind of one person within the space of one year. To think I used to laugh at imago’s defaced pictures of him on this forum. No wonder Prince was pissed off with us. He thought even his most hardcore fans saw him as a laughing stock. He deserved more respect. Still does. Michael Howe has the best job in the world as far as I’m concerned. And I’m sure he’s well aware of the responsibility in curating the legacy of a true genius for the ages. We’re the luckiest music fans in the world, so stop bloody complaining. [Edited 6/9/20 12:08pm]
