I see on Prince's YouTube page they've raised over $5 million so far for Covid-19 relief. Should reach goal of $7.5 million. Google will be matching up to $5 million. Cool.

Why couldn't they remaster the video? Do they not have access to the original tapes or whatever? Bruh it looks like this was recorded with a potato lol

55,000 watching live. That was a rousing success. As many times as I've seen it, it felt like I was watching for the first time. A lot of the comments seemed like people weren't prepared for the level of energy Prince gives. My favorite comment, "Damn, Prince really was that dude." cool

Even though I have seen this concert on VHS tape & on DVD a thousands times before over the past 30 years- I still found this concert highly entertaining after all of these years. I might add that he sound was much clearer this time around and His Royal Badness did his thing! i am also glad that they were able to raise over 5 millions dollars in donations for the WHO via the first broadcast. So with google matching the donations that is a grand total of 10 millions dollars raised. A Beautiful Night indeed!

I enjoyed watching the concert.I may be in minority here but I much prefer Prince's later concerts more so than the purple rain era when he was in his prime.I didn't really like the theatrics.Glad Prince got rid of that and focused purely on the music aspect. But still this beats the Rave concert by A LOT

Yeah it sounds better for sure, the backing vocals are mixed differently but still not pristine. Sound on that tour wasn't pristine. Picture looks like the VHS, just brighter. Surprised they didn't upres it to HD.

And also more than 52k people watching. Pretty cool I'd say.

I'm probably gonna get fishslapped fishslap for this but Prince definitely stole some moves Elvis Presley.

He was a magpie - that's for sure.

The one thing that always bugs me about this concert is - the Hohner: I can't see where it's plugged in. Am I the only one? Possibly - please can someone with some tech knowledge explain how he's wired up with this instrument?

I think he's got an early wireless system. They came out in the 70's.

That's how he can do the spins, and how he can run up the ladder and back down with Wendy following him. At some point he reaches at the side where a plug would normally go.

The audio version was a bit hard to find on Apple Music because it only shows up as a Prince & The Revolution album. Listening to it now.

This was a great thing to do.
But that’s IT with the Purple Raining us to death, PLEASE.
Society will think this is all Prince was about. Even they must be ready for something new.
Next will be the time for the estate to take a leap of faith. And publicly show a later concert. People will LOVE it. They’ll start exploring Prince more.

So we’ve laid the groundwork. Good. Now let’s keep going. Don’t let fear stop you. Don’t be so darned careful. Snd don’t wait too long. Make sure those with a planted seed get watered.

Oh my fucking God.... COVID-friendly Prince face-masks?

That thud you heard was us crashing into rock bottom.

Fucking awful.

Face masks that can prevent a disease and save lives are not a fucking fashion accessory. Jesus.

Not the first time, and probably not the last. I remember seeing masking on Paris runways too.

Pollution Chic: China's Smog Prompts Face Masks on Fashion Week Runways

Smog can lead to health problems from asthma to triggering a heart attack.

A facial mask appears at the China international fashion week, Oct. 28, 2014, in Beijing.

Consider yourself fishslapped- nothing to be "stolen" from Elvis as nothing he did was original.

Hadn't seen this concert in decades but definately enjoyed the parts I caught on last night. The Revolution kicked ass on When Doves Cry.

I agree with everything you say. I loved watching the show. I do like the later concert more which were focussed on the music more instead of theatrics. For example the ONA concerts and Montreux concerts. With the exception of Lovesexy 88, which is theatric and is really great, I also think he got better with time in playing the instruments and interacting with the audience. Nothing beats the aftershows though.

Yeah - I guessed it was a form of wireless plug - as he used frequently throughout the 80s/90s etc... it's just in its other forms you can still see the jack plugged in and the cable to the battery/transmitter on the guitar strap. I'm sure the pack is still there on the strap, I just can't see anything in the housing on the guitar - I'll have to go back and look again. It's been so many years since I watched this clip!

Yeah, I enjoyed looking at all the streaming comments in real time. (Although most of us probably have different names in the real world...) I guess tonight is just going to be an additional showing of this concert.

Wouldn't it be a hoot if on one of the nights the Estate just went crazy and released some new concert footage? Maybe that's why I am am such a good soldier in the funk army....I'm a dreamer!!!

yes lol dancing jig

Good morning children...take a look out your window, the world is falling...
