I have been going through a lot of old playlists and it got me thinking what unreleased Prince songs (at least his version of the song) rated a 10 on a 10 point scale. I have placed those that are still unreleased and those that were only posthumously released.

yes, a lot of these are close to 10 for me as well. I would have definitely put Empty Room on list had it not been released on C-Note. Some of the others I would rate a 9.

Interesting seeing the other choices. Never got the love for Adonis. Or There's Others Here With Us (which just sounds like a noisy attempt to replicate success of Thriller). Honestly, after some of my previously unreleased favs finally got released (Wonderful Ass, Love Thy Will B Done) I don't feel like there are that many "10"- level unreleased songs.

I think I may prefer the 2009 version as well. Such a shame it doesn't exist in high quality - but at least we have the Montreux recordings.

Although his unreleased songs are nearly always fascinating, most often very good, I don't think I have heard anything yet which made me think that's a 10. Close, but not a 10, and in most cases I think he chose the right songs for the albums released.

However, the best ones for me...

I agree that they shouldn't release We Can Funk without Girl of My Dreams / Can't Stop in the sequence. Data Bank was never included in the 3 track jam but was recorded over the same 2 day session that produced the other 3 tracks.

I nearly included 'Old Friends For Sale' but for me it's about a 9/10. It didn't quite make my shortlist but I'd be so pleased to see it released.

I like the '09 version, but in my opinion the '86 version is far better. I prefer the horns, Wendy and Lisa’s vocals, the tempo. One thing I will give the ‘09 version is that the lyrics are clearer, but that may just be because of the sound quality of the ‘86 bootleg rather than the performance itself. Until it gets an official release I can’t be sure of that one. Still, it would be nice to have both in best possible quality.

So many great ones already listed. A couple that are favorites for me:

Computer Blue, Hallway Speech version (if a posthumously released version counts)

Deliverance EP

And I second the earlier votes for I Wonder and Purple Music.
