No Chart Bump after Grammy Tribute? After checking the Billboard 200 for the past couple of weeks I was somewhat surprised to not see a single Prince album on it; not even the old standby Purple Rain.
Surprising because he was the subject of a 2 hour prime time tribute and this showcase didn't lead to any sort of renewed interest in his music?

Uh....he had four singles in the Top 20 the next week. Mostly due to sales.

I remember checking the itunes album charts a couple of days later The Very Best of Prince was highly rated (I think top 10), and Purple Rain and The Hits also charting. |

Partyman also charted on iTunes when that episode of The Last Dance began streaming. Cant remember the position but it was there. TVBOP also charted Top 20.
I'm kinda warming up to the idea of Prince's music being used in places like that. No commercials. [Edited 5/9/20 8:33am] |

So when Prince wanted to license his music for commercials, you were against that? There was one song he would not permit (guess) but he liked the idea of commercialization meaning he'd sell more tunes.

Personally I dont remember any Prince song attached to a commercial except the 2009 Target ad which had him in it. That press release was from 2014 and I still dont rememeber any song from that time in a commercial if there was one. My opinion, like everyone else's, is irrelevant. The Estate will do whatever it wishes to.
As for if I was against Prince using his music for commercials, again my opinion just like everyone's else's, would be irrelevant. But then again Prince was prone to changing his mind on a dime and so.... [Edited 5/9/20 14:03pm] |
