Magical album. Yes! And 2...for the one-man-jam at the end. This underrated gem of an album (and 16) needs to be re-released.

I have to agree with you 100% regarding 8! I have this particular track on repeat in my car when taking long drives/trips. It is so relaxing, so quiet storm, dreamlike and funky - all in a span of a mere 10 minutes! Completely mesmerizing! I love 2 and 6 also however, 8 is the ultimate highlight for me on that album.

This, yep. * I shall never forget the delight and surprise at finding this album, and then finding 16 swiftly after (I'd come to Prince a little later than '87). There was a record store a bus ride away that had an eclectic Prince section, routinely stocked with side-project material. The bus ride home, after having bought 8, was one full of supposition. And then, once the record was on the player - what a joy. From start to finish, this is a moment of glory.

6 and a half
but wierd...dont think I've listened to "Eight" in 10+ years. I put it on and I was instantly 17 again, laying in my room sad about some girl and trying to deal with this beauty of a song. [Edited 5/8/20 8:34am]

"Two" always had a fun hook in it. "Eight" is interesting because the synths under it are from "U Got The Look," so it follows a similar chord progression. The "uh....huh.....uh...uh huh" thing under it makes it unique, but I dig it for all those reasons. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Eight has a beautiful melancholy about it. It's a gorgeous piece of music.
