Recommend the best live shows from the 90’s As someone who has never been a fan of 90's Prince, Id like to spend some time with it as I seem to have a little time and desire right now to revisit the live shows from this era and give it a second look

That performance sealed the deal for me as the most talented musician of our time. It's from the Diamonds And Pearls tour in London Earls Court 1992.

i 2nd that, so freaking good. Another gem is the rendition he did on the Piano & Microphone tour.
The 1st show that springs to mind from the 90's is the 93 Act II tour stop in Germany for me, scorching.. [Edited 3/19/20 11:01am]

You can listen to any concert from the Nude, Diamonds And Pearls, Act I, Act II, Jam of the Year tours. A personal favourite of mine is the Act II show in the Brabanthallen, Den Bosch, August 10, 1993, because there he replaced the usual encore of 1999/Baby I'm a Star/America with Come/Endorphinmachine/Peach, the first time we ever heard those songs. It was also the only time he played Bambi on that tour. I'm biased of course because I was there, but it was one of the best shows of that tour.
The real gems are in the aftershows. He did some pretty good ones in 1993: Chicago, San Francisco, Barcelona, Paris. His club gigs in 1994 are also worth checking out. 1995 was a strange one. He did an arena tour in the British Isles, Holland and Belgium that was in half empty venues, but the aftershows he did in London were great. And in Paradiso, Amsterdam, the first one that I saw. [Edited 3/19/20 11:24am] If you take any of this seriously, you're a bigger fool than I am.

One thing all of us can agree on, is that his live shows and musicianship have always been top rate. I just think a lot of fans lost interest as his recorded albums were a turnoff to many.

Mostly due to his name change, fight with WB, and lack of his wanting to do any promotion for WB. He also had a knack for making the wrong song choice when he did promote. That embarrasing performance/lip sync of TMBGITW on the World Music Awards, the lackluster effort on Letterman w/ slave on his face of Dinner W/ Delores comes to mind.

Ok thank you, I've done a little searching and found quite a bit of shows from this era. I have a lot of listening to do, so let me listen and digest.

Yeah and I've been distracted from listening to the ones I have as I keep finding more. Whenever someone decides to put out live packages of his live shows, it's going to a lot of work just deciding what to leave out. it will be worth it though.

One the positive things this current situation with self isolation, is I get plenty of time to really clean the house while shaking my ass listening "new to me" Prince music. . These are the days of wild live playing loud in the background . Any clues as to which shows have the most unique version of DOW? [Edited 3/20/20 14:38pm]

I haven't heard as many 90s shows as those from other decades, but one that I really enjoy that hasn't been mentioned in the Gold Tour in Tokyo. It was good to hear so many of the wonderful songs from Gold in concert.

There never was a US Diamonds and Pearls tour This is not music, this is a trip
No, it's not a drug, it's something more hip Don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine Purple music does the same to my brain

Well that era in general. He played a version of Peach before it was released. Whatever the name of that tour. i looked in up on Princevault and it seems it was the Act 1 tour. It was in LA at the old Universal Amphitheatre. [Edited 3/21/20 8:29am]

So tracked down the Act 1 and 2 tour becasue I barely remember it other than hearing Peach for the first time and loving it and thinking it was better than the studio version released later that year. And indeed the live version sounds amazing.
