Because there were fewer of them so they're more interesting to discuss than how great SoTT and Lovesexy are. Sort of like how people who discuss Mike Tyson fights dwell on Buster Douglas and the ear biting thing.

Gushing about how great he was at everything is a little tiring and is really just a feedback loop.

He usually crushed everything he did so the stumbles stand out and serve to humanize him to an extent.

Exactly. It's interesting and entertaining to examine the whys and hows of when a project doesn't connect with the audience, or didn't turn out as intended. That's not dwelling on negativity, we're the only dorks who care enough to remember or even know about the misses as well as the hits.

i feel a sense of relief...i was starting to think i was the only one. In my opinion Chaos&Disorder is by far his worst album...other than the sweetly average "Dinner With Delores" there is nothing on that album that i would ever choose to hear again...ive listened to it many times, and i still couldnt name more than 2 or 3 songs (if that) on it.


Dinner With Delores was the only thing I could listen to, as well! lol

I can say that I didn't like this or that particular album or that the name change was strange or that he got on our nerves by becoming so preachy, but... At the end of the day, that doesn't matter because there was always something going on! If you didn't like a new album, there were still tours and bootlegs and if you didn't like or agree with what he did, you still had something to talk about! Even when he screwed up he was interesting. So, living in Holland, my Prince low point was when he didn't tour Europe between 2002 and 2010. There were new albums and a few live shows (but I didn't want to go to London or Montreux for that), but overall this period was pretty quiet for Prince fans on the European mainland.

My Prince low point is probably my fondness for a lot of his songs that have a terrible reputation as cheesy, cringeworthy or throwaways. "Push", "Jughead", "I Rock Therefore I Am", you name it. lol

I don't really have a "low point" in terms of any specific parts of his career I didn't like. Apart from Rave, maybe. Even the early 2000s instrumental albums that aren't obviously "my thing", are kinda cool.

Don't sweat that. I like a lot of tracks people here seem to hate. Poom Poom, Life O the Party, Never B Another Like Me...a whole bunch. You do you.

"Emancipation" up until "Musicology"

"Musicology" was Prince back on track.

I saw him Live in San Jose, 2000 though and it was amazing... the albums though were my least faves.

It changed Prince forever, and his career was spotty after that. He stopped cussing, he changed his lyrics to a point that it was downright embarassing. "work that body like ya want some more" "it's mainly a spiritual thing" UGGG. I'd rather him not sing those songs at all than butchering them the way he did. "Days of Wild" sounded like garbage after he changed all those lyrics. Give me the CB version any day rather than the NPGMC era version.

Completely agree with all of this. A few more very low points, especially in the last 20 years of his career, but this was a watershed moment. Nothing he did after it (in terms of albums) was in the same league as almost everything he did before it. It’s all subjective anyway.

That seems pretty odd because you'd really have to dig to find it when it was released and it was advertised as an instrumental. What did you expect?
