Top News. Tudahl's book is the best insight into Prince I've read to date.

Being released March 2021!

The follow-up to Duane Tudahl's essential #Prince & the Purple Rain Sessions book has been announced.

Here's Duane in his own words:

"I've been working on book 2 for over 3 years and I'm almost finished! ALMOST! lol My publisher got a little OVER excited and accidentally posted my book going on sale early but since the cat is out o' the bag, here is the scoop straight from my keyboard to you! Book 2 will be out in March 2021 and I'm very excited about getting this finished and on the market.

Book 2 (1985-86) covers: Parade, SOTT, Crystal Ball, Dream Factory, Madhouse 8, The Family, The Flesh, Jill Jones album, parts of The Black Album, Camille, Sheila's 2nd and 3rd album, the last part of the Purple Rain tour, the Parade tour, UTCM movie, as well as the break-up of The Revolution and The Family and more! There is so much incredible music in this one. HE DID ALL OF THIS IN TWO YEARS!

I've been incredibly lucky to have interviewed so many fantastic people about their time in the studio, and I will admit that I may like this book even more than book 1! I promise to keep working on this to get it out there as quickly as possible. Thank you Rev for the incredible cover! You've outdone yourself IMHO!

Anyway, it won't be out for another year, but I wanted to share the great news with everyone!"

Best Prince news since '1999 super deluxe'. Such a pity it's not out for another year. I'm still buzzing about it all the same.

Wait i’m confused...the amazon preorder says Sept 2020 release? Not March 2021 as originally stated?

EDIT: Duane on FB said the publisher was too eager. March 2021 is the actual date...not Sept 2020

I really don't understand why the word "foreword" is so difficult for so many of you. It's "fore" + "word", i.e. it's a "word" be"fore" the book really starts. https://www.lexico.com/en...tion/fore-

Also, how bloody hard is it to spell Duane Tudahl's name correctly? Give the man his props.

Strive

Duane Tudahl takes us back into the world of Prince’s musical masterpieces and personal battles, weaving together the voices of those who knew Prince best during this period. As Prince’s relationship with his band, the Revolution, and his fiancée, Susan Melvoin, crumbled, he threw himself into creative catharsis, recording and releasing multiples studio albums and side projects.

Prince and the Parade and Sign “O” the Times Era Studio Sessions provides a definitive chronicle of more than 260 recording sessions and two tours during 1985 and 1986. These years were full of struggle, but as millions of fans know, Prince would emerge from this darkness to show that the fire of true genius cannot be extinguished.

Sounds cool. Guess that also explains all the talk about Sign O The Times: Deluxe jumping the line and Parade: Deluxe getting pushed to next year.

Warner has to jump on a Sign release before the rights go over to Sony while Parade is one of the four soundtrack albums they have in perpetuity.

I haven't heard this - is this true? That would be game-changing.

This thread just keeps getting better and better. Where did you hear this Strive? Do you have any sources or links you can share? Any additional info?

The first part is what I've heard third hand from people that know better than me. Parade is no longer coming this year, Sign is.

The second part is just my thoughts on why they would do something like that.

But I've been hearing all sorts of stuff lately so who knows how it will all shake out in the end. Take everything with a grain of salt until it's officially announced.

I don't know why the peach lettering and the picture and everything looks so cool. I can't wait to hear about Parade and Sign O' the Times, though.

From what's been said, those are the next 2 deluxe album versions coming out. It would be cool, if everytime a Deluxe album gets released a book from Duane comes out.

WHERE'S MY 1999 Studio Session book? Hunh, Tudahl? Hunh?
