BTW the next print of the first book should then be retitled "The Purple Rain and Around The World In A Day era sessions" to be cohesive with that second book's title. But seriously, jokes apart, I can't wait to read it, it's gonna be a hell of a ride biggrin Thx Duane for doing the work hug

Well it's not like Duane had planned the expanded edition from scratch. But hopefully the credibility the first book gave him was enough that some witnesses won't wait for the second book to be out to talk to him this time.

Yes, I'm sure he's found himself in contact with many more folks who were in the Prince camp smile

*

I think a big chunk of his time would had to have been with Wendy, Lisa and Susannah, since they were included on so many of the recordings during the '85-'86 period. Peggy and Susan Rogers too. I'm sure these ladies are happy to give him any detals they can remember yes

Some of the need for the expanded edition was new information. The book was basicaly done before. And then after the book was relased he found out new infomation. So an expanded edition was a good thing.

It was a year. And the reason for the expansion has been explained from the start, but you lot are too busy bitching to listen to reason.

Come on y'all!!! The first book is filled with SO much fantastic detail, and now the second book - written in the same style - is coming soon biggrin yes

*

Let's give Duane many props for spending thousands of hours meticulously gathering all of Prince's recording information PLUS additiional details from those who were involved in the process. We are getting the day-to-day schedule and backstory on all (or most) of the songs Prince recorded in 1985 and 1986 - many of which remain unreleased.

The reason for the updater version was because people he tried to interviewed were hesitant because they werent sure of his intentions so when he got the cosigns from people he actually interviewed...the people who were hesitant said yes after the book was published and therefore provided more insight. I doubt it will happen with this happen because they know he's legit.

I know, but still waiting for an eventual updated version. A eBook verison of this one will be enough until a new expanded version comes out. New info comes out all the time so an expanded edition will probably come out down the line and if it doesn't then I'll buy a hardcopy if I still nbeed it.

2021 As much as I want it March 2020 I will wait. I bought the first one, just to have a 2nd one published with more information/stories. My $$$ is precious... I hope this mean by the release date that all info is exhausted and no one is popping up to say 'Hey you missed some stuff'

If he is going to just use the 1985-1986 years it should be Parade - Dream Factory session or just extend the date to 1987 and end with the Black album

1988-1990 Lovesexy, Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic, Batman, Graffiti Bridge should be one book period.

No, the reason for the update was that the publication of the paperback allowed for the correction of errors etc. However, Duane had also gotten more material (due to previously hesitant people now being willign to talk), and together with the publisher agreed to an extensive update. Note that this is a costly affdair: instead of reusing the existing edition of the book, it now involved Duane reworking significant sections and thus all that material needs to pass by an editor, and the book needs to be redesigned.

Top News. Tudahl's book is the best insight into Prince I've read to date.

Exactly !

-

I used to be very fond of the books by Per Nilsen.

What happened to him ?

-

Think it's about time to reread these books again:

'Prince A Documentary' &

'Dance Music Sex Romance'

...and see what differences there are with the new post Prince's passings info.

The "Graffiti Bridge" sessions alone are way more interesting than the "LoveSexy", "Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic" and "Batman" sessions combined...

A third book with "The Black Album", "LoveSexy" and "Rave" is a no brainer...

(Recordings for "The Dawn" overlap multiple periods...)

"Batman" is the odd one here like "Graffiti Bridge"... But really interesting sessions...

Interesting. I've always thought those sessions were underwhelming compared to the previous ones.

.
It's really worth documenting on a book by itself?

All the edits, re-recordings, remixes and reimaginings he did for these and the previous "Graffiti Bridge" sessions are an eye opener for a lot of subsequent sessions and a great insight and starting point for understanding the albums that came after "Graffiti Bridge"...

Okay. I'll look forward to those sessions.

.
Can we say it's material similar to the remixes/songs made for the "New Power Generation" maxi-single?

So he revisited and reworked/remixed/re-recorded more older vault songs for Graffiti Bridge than jsut the ones on the released album??
You said when Musicology was released that he reused alot of older (vault) tracks or parts of older (vault) tracks for his later albums and gave the example that he used Come Electra Tuesday for Musicology, which sadly noone could verify or verified back then (and I remember the trolling and hate spewed at you for that info) but then we all finally verified it years later when Come Electra Tuesday was leaked and you gave another example I don't remember.
Could you please provide more titles of older/vault tracks that he reused (partly) on specific released albums/tracks?
I think everybody here would love that kind of info and it's better than telling people to google it wink
TIA and nice to see you around here agian.
