Best Prince album to test speakers

Hey guys
I bought 3 sets of speakers and want to only keep one. I plan to play one Prince album on each set of speakers and see which one I like best. Which Prince cd is the best in your opinion for the purposes of my test? An album that is diverse enough in sound, that hits highs, lows, etc.

But you know Prince music. Pick one yourself and don't worry about someone else's opinion. Do you. Play ALL the records.

Honestly, I thought Come would be a good candidate. I like the sound of the album, it's got pretty much everything on it, and it's one of my faves. Wish I had the time to listen to all his albums on the 3 sets of speakers... I'm sure there's audiophiles amongst us on the org. I was curious to know how a Prince fan evaluates speakers.

For me, The Rainbow Children is really well recorded, even better than a lot of albums which came after so personally I'd go with that one.

That get my vote too. The start of Digital Garden is especially good for finding rattles and vibrations. Used to shake my old car to the core.

RIP sad

TRC is a strange choice, since it s a victim of loudness war.
The dynamic range is very low( an average of 4 or 5, when For You is at 17), and it sounds ultra compressed.
So if you have to test new speakers, TRC is a very bad example.

Thanks for the info. I will play 1999 deluxe as well! So far it's a tie game between Polk and Klipsch.

I'd say have the closing track from Come on repeat for around an hour. Make sure you turn it up load so it brings out the bass in the backing vocal. Your neighbours will appreciate the reverberation and will never look at you the same. Trust me.

Play something you know well, but not something you know so well you can't hear it with fresh ears.

I think I would try Sign of the Times. Maybe "If I was your girlfriend", since there's a lot of range and both natural and processed sounds.

The "Purple Rain" remaster... If it sounds good then stear clear from those speakers and look for good ones...
