The most sense anyone on the Org has ever spoken. Although I dont think that will happen.
Am I alone in wanting something more recent? I mean, P&M would be cool but I was thinking more along the lines of Deliverance or something closer to his passing. I'm much more interested in his state of mind towards the end.

I find it hard to believe that people would want what is was already released as opposed to new, unheard material.

Sure release The Truth and ONA Piano CD, they need to be in circulation, but not at the expense of vault material or another SD release. If they do release those, they need to be mutually exclusive from everything else.

A vault CD of that last music he worked on would be incredible. Songs like Frida Kahlo and Rumeta to name a few, both of which sounded unreal and in uncharted territory. Both were indicitive of the 'new minneapolis sound' that he coined and which Baltimare was the first example. (where guitar solo would be subtituted for real orchestration)

If you guys remember, there were two versions of Baltimore, the first with the guitar and guitar solo intact throughout, and the second, an entirely orchestrated version that followed Prince's guitar playing.

I'll keep an eye out on Deezer, as they took the 1999 album offline MONTHS before the news of the release of the box set hit.

Sony doesn't have the rights to vault material. Their re-releases have nothing to do with what Warner and the Estate do with new or Super Deluxe release.

That'd be amazing. When do you think each of those would drop?

my wishlist would be PARADE SD released beginning to mid april.

ORIGINALS 2.0 released for the celebration in june.

and another SD release, be it DIRTY MIND or any other, in november.

meantime, i hope there will be some little bits and pieces that
will be rereleased, like the Versace Experience etc was this year.

That would make me very happy !

There seems to a lot of rumores regarding a Parade SD and where there's smoke there's usally fire....

Originals 2 would be great and even as a 2 CD set.

I'm guessing the "Prince" album will be remastered and get a light deluxe version. Piurely based on the feel for you release this year.

.

Nonsense. They're not gonna waste time and money on a guaranteed dud.

It's more likely that I Feel For You Demo will end up on Originals 2. Remember, they put out a Nothing Compares 2 U single that ended up on Originals.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'd like previously unreleased stuff to be put out above all else.

But re-releasing The Truth and ONA Piano won't necessarily come at the expense of a new vault disc, or new SDE, or a new 'orignals' or whatever.

Assembling previously unreleased stuff for a release takes a lot of time, what with researching the best recordings, comissioning artwork and liner notes, restoring and remastering the tapes deciding on the tracklisting etc etc etc.

Meanwhile The Truth and ONA Piano coud easily be spun off from their parent boxsets - neither of which are that easy to find these days - into self contained packages. Assuming that the original recordings can easily be found in good condition, all that will be required for both releases are decent remastering jobs, some adations of the original artwork for the standalone packes, and maybe some new liner notes.

These could be good stop gap releases while we wait for Parade SDE, Originals 2, SOTT SDE or whatever - much like Rave in2 or The Versace Experience, but much better.

Not only that, these albums underline that underneath all the trappings of being a big star, Prince was above all else, a helluva talented instrumentalist (rather like the Piano and Mic and I Feel For You Demo releases have already shown).

I don't see why we can't get reissues, a super deluxe AND a vault release in 2020....

We got ALL of that in 2019:

Reissues: Rave, Musicology, 3121, Planet Earth, Versace, Chaos, Emancipation

Super Deluxe: 1999

Vault: Originals

Plus, we got a couple promo reissues on RSD, His Majesty ane Versace tape (which I would have passed on had I known a CD & LP were coming) and that 7" of I Feel For You.

They need to do just as much again this year as they did last year.
In my not-so-humble opinion, of course... wink

Am I the only person annoyed with this "Orginals" release stuff? These songs should be attached to the protege albums they came from. Remastered original album with bonus disk(s) having Prince's versions. The only way I thought the idea of an "originals" album would work was the tunes he gave to artists that he had no input in regarding the whole release at the time.
The Family, Vanity, Time etc stuff should be with the respective albums. The Kenny Rodgers and Bangles type stuff, one off type thing all collected for one release is badass. They could've released Originals as a wicked 2 disc release if they used this formula.

I'd love reissues of protege albums with Prince vocal versions, but I imagine these are far, far down the totem pole of priority for the Estate given that there are some classic albums yet to get the deluxe treatment. I think it's better to get them early than not at all.

Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

Deliverance is from 2006 (LotusFlow3r sessions).

There is no such thing as UTCM in color.

.

From DMSR:

.

the film would be shot on colour film but developed into monochrome in the processing stage

.

So even if they have the original footage as color film, it would mean they'd have to scan all of that and re-do the edit of the movie in color. No way that is ever going to happen.

^ Hmm I gotcha. Oh well would've been interesting to see but we'll always have the black and white print.

In it's place it'd be cool to have a concert from the European Parade tour; instead of the Detroit birthday gig.

I'll add my completely unfounded thoughts too. smile

.

They did Purple Rain Delux, then 1999 Deluxe, so, either they alternate both sides of Purple Rain and come out with Around The World In A Day Deluxe (which I would love) or Controversy Deluxe.

.

Originals 2 would be grand, but.. as has been said, I'd prefer if they do songs that are one-offs, so yes to So Strong that Dale released, yes to Baby Go-Go that Nona Hendryx released, but no to anything from The Family, Jill Jones, Sheila E or The Time, they should get the protege albums released with Prince shadow albums..

.

And I would love proper soundtrack albums. Imagine purple rain with posessed instrumental, the acoustic "father's song" part of Computer Blue, Modernaire and so on. Especially the Under The Cherry Moon soundtrack would be great. The "let it rock, you just can't stop" version of New Position, the tremendous An Honest Man from the start of the movie, without the movie sounds, just the song, lot's of incidental Clare Fischer stuff... A live concert for Sign Of The Times, but without those intermissions that really take the fun and pacing out of that movie, although I'm not sure anything from Grafitti Bridge is salvageable.

Please can we cool with the PR and 1999 for now?

We need to focus on his other 80s stuff the estate also shouldn't ignore the 90s stuff. He had some great stuff from the 90s that is very overlook.
