The real title of "Wet Dream Cousin"

So since we got more or less consensus on Climax and Divinity, I'm gonna try my luck with this one. What's the real title of this cute little gem? Fits very nicely along 1999 SDE outtakes playlists, but it doesn't have a real name yet. Do we know?

Sorry I didn’t see previous threads about the other titles- what was the consensus? Thanks

I disagree that there is consensus on 'Divinity', particularly regarding its dating (second half of 1983, if not later, in my view).

.

'Wet Dream Cousin' may be another take of 'Katrina's Paper Dolls'.

Wet Pants Cousin.

The Colors R brighter, the Bond is much tighter

Oh, I just meant a consensus on its title being Divinity. The dating seems to be obviously early 1984 to my ears.

Interesting that you suggest this could be KPD. Trying to figure how the melody fits there.

That Climax is titled Climax and the song commonly referred to as Lust U Always (instrumental) is actually Divinity.

The striking similarities are in the arrangement of the Linn and the synth.

.

I believe this instrumental is slightly older than the official KPD appearing on PRD. And the circulating bootleg plays about ~5-10% too fast.

.

At the very least, this simple arrangement inspired or was recycled in the now-released KPD.

.

With its atypical Chicago Universal Recording Corp studio location, I think KPD may be quick ditty fashioned from an earlier unrelated outtake (but completely re-recorded), with some hastily written (but interesting) lyrics and countermelodies added on top.

.

I'm uncertain as to the veracity of the Cole Ynda/Lisa Coleman involvement with any original 1983 version of this song. That has a bit of the 'Sokal Hoax', MJ singing on 'What a Fool Believes' vibe about it. Elite traders playing a trick on the mortals. Ultimately, it sounds like a throw-away he squeezed out, on expensive studio time, between tour dates.

You know, the more you mention it, the more I could picture it. Especially if it were slowed down a tiny bit. The awful thing is that the various versions of KPD are circulating among elite traders and I am certain at least one of them (Neversin) could confirm whether these two songs are related or not, but the willingness there may leave one wanting. smile

But that is definitely not its actual name. It was called that due to its similarity to Wet Dream by bootleggers. Not Prince.

Name was given by Prince AFAIK. I'm sure there's a few separate documents to say this (some from 1982 that just list the title and some from 1989 that list what should be overdubbed by Eric and later mixed out)...
