Celine Dion makes a quick note about Prince

For the first time, Celine Dion was a guest on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. She revealed that Michael Jackson came to see her show. Prince came a few times to watch her residency act. I always wondered if he'd be up to do another residency in a place like Vegas. The pay would be good, the audience consistent, and with the financial backing of the hotel organization, it could be a huge multimedia and interactive type show. We'll never know, but man - the possibilities.

You can watch the episode of WWHL on the Bravo TV streaming app.

Here's the clip: The mention comes around the 1:12 mark and after. https://youtu.be/conBmLdtUEw?t=72

Didn't see this but a clip on some other show. Y she look more emaciated than usual. I'm petty 😐.

She's naturally thin, so the body shaming really has no place here or anywhere.

Well, he did write a song for her. I mean, if he can go to that Victory Tour the Jacksond did, he could show up in Vegas for a few Celine gigs. hahaha While I'm not a huge fan of her music, the show was pretty amazing to see. I appreciate her vocal range and strength.

I remember reading an article about Prince watching Celine and being amazed by her voice. To the point where he asked whether she was, 'on the box', and he was told that she was using no auto tune or anything like that.

RIP sad

On RR Auction podcast (Jan 2018), Therese Stoulil (Paisley Park production coordinator 1986-1996) mentioned that Prince's version of "With This Tears" was one of the greatest vocal performances of his... I wish to hear his version one day...

His vocal version of "With This Tear" is right up there on my wishlist.

I'm also curious as to the production. In my mind - and what I hope - is that it's a very minimal piano ballad.

Walter Afanasieff produced the Celine version with his usual bombastic layered production, which works great for Celine, but I can't imagine P's version sounding much like that.

The orchestral arrangement on her version is clearly trying to emulate the Fischer arrangement on P's version. But that doesn't tell us whether the rest is faithful or not.

I think that actually is the Fischer arrangement - they kept it. I was actually at Brent's place earlier this year in LA - should have asked him! I did get to see lots of the original written scores while I was there.

Even if it follows an over-the-top version P gave Celine, there still might have been (at some point in its development) a minimalist piano ballad, as Militant hopes. Now, if they ever released a version officially, it might be mixed to be anywhere in between the two--we've already seen that they can make some very... interesting, let's say... choices when they do their thing in choosing from the available tracks. But I'm there for it either way, if it comes out. i'll probably like it. Kind of like I'm still digging You're My Love, another P version I'd always been curious about.

Dont lose the fact of what Celine said during this interview:

Celine was asked by Andy "You met Princess Diana, you met the Pope, and you sang at Bill Clinton's inaguaration. Which public figure that you have been with, impressed you the most, would you say?"

Celine said "I've had the honor of having many artists come to Caesar's Palace to see my performance, Prince came many times, Michael Jackson.. just a dream."

End of answer by Celine.

Just saying....

What??? The thread is about Celine giving a nod to Prince and saying he came to see her show more than once. No one's talking about Andy here.

I don't think the CF orchestra is playing, now they could have used the music sheets but they would have had to ask CF and credit him for it, and he's not credited, so that's why I assumed they just tried to emulate it.
