Oh my gosh, that was so me as a teenager. I had no money growing up, but I worked and much of money did go to posters, magazines, records, bootleg VHS, concerts, pins, you name it. He was so damn photogenic....

Y'know … I was having this little internal debate with myself over which version of 1999 SD to buy. I want the vinyl, but $250 is a lot to plunk down at once, plus there's the whole "how do I get a digital version" issue.

Well, the digital issue has, shall we say, "resolved itself" in the last 24 hours, leaving just the $250 vinyl price. But then I thought, "You used to drop $300 per ticket to go to a show - and that doesn't happen, anymore. Get the damn vinyl."

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Pretty much. I just spent €30 on a 7” single. I’m supposed to be buying Christmas gifts. Oh dear...

I'm the opposite... I make a point of asking others to get me the fairly cheap and easy-to-get stuff that can be picked up in HMV, so that I can focus the rest of the time on hunting out the quirky/OOP/occasionally kinda pricey stuff on Discogs, lol. I need to keep all the friends and family I can get, after all. lol

That was definately me in the early years when I would fund my collection or follow the tours around the globe.

Now I'm the complete opposite. Since Prince died, all I want is the music. No other merchandise or vinyl re-releses or orchestral tribute shows.

I've been slowing selling off my collection and funding memories with the family. A dude ranch in Texas, a drive across Italy, a trip around Iceland. The only non music items I'm keeping are reference books, a couple of things that I got from Prince and a couple of artworks (rare stuff, signed or handmase things things from say, Spencer etc). They are more sentimental as they have a background story.

Just sold a bunch of duplicate CD's to fund my next purple adventure, crossing the Andies.

Having spent 30 collecting, the most liberating thing was letting it go.

TheTruth123

A good sound system or way to hear the music

A way to get the music

CDs

Books

Have been looking for a good shirt or sweatshirt with a small Love Symbol logo. Nothing too commercially.
