What if Prince had signed onto Sony during the mid-90s?

Seeing the estate's reissue contract I thought of an interesting sceanrio that would convert NPG Records into a sub-label of Sony Music for issuing Prince's content.

We would except Rave Un2 to be more sucessful but-still-terrible, among others things (eg. the Face Down single getting issued proper, not ruining the chart sucess with the piror Emancipation singles).

If Prince signed to Sony during the TGE era, we would've excpected the "Vault Volumes 1-3" throwaway to actually get released rather than sending one "volume" to Warner in 1996.

With Prince having the his own label mean't that he had the control he wanted so he could do his own thing and not be held back.

.

There is zero evidence of those Vault volumes ever existing. It was an empty threat that would have violated the terms of his contract. C&D and TV:OF4S were compiled at the same time; one of its tracks was recorded in February 1996, as a matter of fact: http://www.princevault.co...itle=Sarah .
