For those who question moving the vault...THIS IS A MUST READ!

Some on the org question moving the vault to IronMoutain... IMO...this was the best thing to happen, they are safe and secure, unlike the biggest catastrophe that seemed to get swept under the rug...

Read and sadly weep of all great music and film masters that were lost for all eternity... This will make you feel even better that Prince's music is in good hands...

I had no idea that this had happened in 2008. And I am a music nut that really reads just about anything having to do with it! So sad that these original master recordings are no longer here for all of us to enjoy. I agree with the article, why would you want to look at a photo of a painting when you could look at the real thing?

As far as music, I prefer vinyl, I like the hiss and crackle, just sounds more real to me. Digital music is so homogenized, it may be a copy 6 or 7 times over, with all the imperfections taken out. Boring. I hope Prince's masters are well taken care of so that we can enjoy it for all times.

A long article, but a good read, thanks.

So what is Ironmountain then? Is that in an actual mountain bunker of sorts?

And, wow! That was a very short book. 😶

And my dad has over 10'000 vinyl albums. I remember having to carry boxes and boxes of them moving them around. This article made me think, 'what if the storage that it's stored in right now burns down?' then again, they're only material things.

and then the big one hits the west coast... until it's all digital and stored in several locations around the world it isn't safe. No matter where it is. And the digital isn't even important, it just makes it more convenient to store and make copies.
