Have U attempted to deconstruct CRYPTIC LYRICS?

I was listening to RNR Love Affair and thinking what could he possibly mean? So here's my attempt to deconstruct it.

She believed in fairy tales and princes
I think this girl's favorite song was The Glory of Love (Peter Cetera) and Hero by Enrique Iglesias neutral

She left her past and those lilly white fences
And headed out to Hollywood in search of her soul
But she had to pay the toll (yes she did)

She ran to LA to find Prince during the Welcome to LA tour but just missed him. hrmph hrmph

He needed proof, she needed a brother
That’s when stars collide
When there’s space for what you want
And your heart is open wide

Oh!! Hmm she got divorced not on the grounds of adultry so she wasn't able to remarry, unless there is proof that he moved on and had a child, girlfriend, wife or whatever now. His task was to get that proof in order to marry this princess 😂
But at least now there was space for what they wanted because her X was no longer in the picture.

[Chorus]
This kind of love don’t come from a prayer
Ain’t talking rebound, born of despair
Yellow sun rising on their bodies in bed
Two people in love, with nothing but the road ahead

Ok I figure this one is easy to decipher. They were in love.. end of story.

OMG...thank you for cheering up this gloomy Monday! Yes, I do try to decipher lyrics and it just so happens I have HNR2 in my CD player and listened to RRLA this morning...I think it is just about as clear as lyrics get...no deciphering needed on this one! But your take on it did give me a chuckle.

Nah. What I do is usually I play Prince songs in front of audiences. And it doesn't matter what the lyrics are - there's only one thing going through my mind as I sing them and I absolutely GUARANTEE YOU it's the same thing that went through Prince's mind when he sang in front of an audience. it's easily decipherable, too:

All the girls want to do me.

First of all - shallow? No, no, no. Convincing yourself that you're an object of desire for your audience isn't shallow; it's confidence-building.

Secondly, you don't do that ALL the time. I'm sure that neither Prince nor myself was ever thinking about the female contingent of the audience when either of us performed "Sometimes It Snows In April".

But yeah - this is how a whole lot of entertainers gear themselves for a live performance. It's very similar to the advice you get to imagine the audience in their underwear when making a speech in public.

I don't do that, BTW. I love to speak in public.

K, I thought U meant that he walked around thinking that "all the girls love me". Now that would be shallow if every girl he looked at, that went through his mind.

No not really.
Been around the org for a long time now, mostly in GD.

The reason I haven't been here for awhile though is because people on the org are bullies who think it's funny to make people who seem to have different ideas than theirs feel less than, as if putting other people down makes them seem witty or engaging. It's become the org's sport, to shoot down the newbies and not so educated on all things Prince.

I'm not some fanatic or "fam". If no one understands this message lmk, I'll write in Princebonics for ya!

What it means to you is probably more important than what it meant to him. You can't possibly unpack what's in Prince's head. Even if he orgnotes you about it. biggrin

To be on a spectrum doesn't dictate an insult.

If it makes y'all feel better, I played some rock and roll guitar at a restaurant Tuesday night, and took off my shirt for the final number. Although I was certain all the women there wanted to bed me, none did - which was my wife's preferable outcome.
