Completely understand where you are coming from with this, but how can you be 100% certain that he doesn't? Most believe in an afterlife, if that is true, than Prince is there, and it stands to reason that perhaps, just perhaps, he is well aware of earthly happenings, and especially those that pertain to who he was in this human existence.

I am not saying any of that is true, but I cannot definitively say it is not either, I have no evidence one way or another, so the possibility of him existing, knowing, or caring about any of this is a coin toss, not an absolute.

I don't give a flying fuck what she said about Prince. I met Prince once but like you say, I didn't know him and I have a feeling that if I got to know him, I probably wouldn't like him. I’m normally the first person to criticise Prince for the way he treated people he worked with. It’s no secret that he had an awful temper and half the times I see his former band mates being interviewed they look like they’re still in therapy. Having said that, do you seriously expect me to believe that he chased a woman through the streets with a weapon, or broke a band members ribs? Sinead and Prince obviously had a row, it got heated, and now she’s exaggerating. Didn’t the last time she make this accusation she claim it was a band members wrist he broke? Now it’s ribs?

Oh, and regarding this band mate? Sinead is claiming that the band mate was in hospital at the same time this happened, right? She had this hit in 1990 and presumably met him shortly after? Were there any women in the NPG in 1990! Let’s pretend what she’s saying is true for a second. Who is she likely eluding to? Rosie Gains? Candy Dulfer? Sheila E??? All of whom worked with Prince on more that one occasion in the years to follow. Does any of this sound likely?

With respect, because I typically enjoy your posts VaultCurator, but you mention with certainty that there is no afterlife, then mention how outlandish the accusations are about Prince without proof. Saying with certainty there is no afterlife could also be deemed as an outlandish accusation by many. I am sure you can understand the hypocrisy that exists here.

Why does the burden of proof apply to her accusations but not your difinitive statement on the afterlife? If you have proof it does not exist, please share it with us.

We all love Prince, and I would like to believe he is happy in an afterlife, making a difference there as he did here, I have no proof, I only have a beflief, a hope. Prince clearly believed he was going somewhere too, as the theme is prevelant in his music and interviews throughout his entire career.

I am always willing to learn, so I am open to any evidence you have to back up your claim that there is no afterlife.

Forgive my scepticism, but I consider the notion that there is an afterlife to be more outlandish than there not being one. Obviously I have no way of proving that there isn’t one. I’m curious to know what evidence you think I could possible produce to back up this claim. Not only would I have to prove a negative, but I’d also need to solve one of the biggest mysteries of human comprehension. I just don’t believe there is one.

I’m really not sure how else to respond to this Leadline. Maybe I should have been more careful in my phrasing, but didn’t expect that this is what I’d get called up on. I could have just as easily of put ‘in my opinion there is no afterlife’ and it would have made no odds to me.

As for the burden of proof, I’m glad you brought this up. You can claim I’m being a little hypocritical here, but at the end of the day I’m not the one accusing a dead man of physical abuse. The burden of proof wouldn’t be on Prince to prove his innocents even if he were alive, nor should it be the fans defending him by proxy. If she’s making the accusation then the burden of proof should fall on Sinead.

You don’t have to believe me Leadline, nor would I ever ask you to. I may have no faith, but I admire many people who do and appreciate the positive influence it has on their lives. Prince included. I wonder if Sinead would grant me that same courtesy?
