Media really picking up on the Prince beat multiple women & 'he was into some dark drugs at the time' line.

She is encouraging alleged victims of his to speak up. If true beyond all reasonable doubt then fair enough, especially during these more enlightened times. Alas it's her...& I , like many do not see her as reliable.

Again, would hope the estate show some real teeth on this one.

I have to say, she's entitled to talk about events in her direct relationship with Prince as she lived through that and was specifically asked, but I take issue with multiple aspects..

  1. It's quite twisted to dump on someone on a major national TV channel moments after you've sang their song that made your career. Either don't sing the song anymore or keep your nasty stories to yourself - can't have it both ways. Have some dignity! You could say that it was not a good meeting and leave it at that.
  2. Additional comments about multiple other women being beaten? Hmmm, Prince had a close to 40 year career, had many female partners, friends, protogees, band members and employees, and has been dead for a few years now. No one has come forward and said a bad word about him. In fact, quite the opposite, . For Sinead to make these wild accusations that other women were beaten especially without Prince to dend himself - again, that just seems self-serving and frankly, c'mon you've just sang his song - show some dignity! Where's the evidence for that? Leave that to others to speak if it's true.
  3. Whilst she's not a one hit wonder, Nothing compares to you is really the only song that the vast majority of the public would have any idea of. I loved Sinead before all that - I thought The Lion and the Cobra was an amazing album and I played it over and over for years. I was thrilled when she sang Nothing Compares 2 U that I was already well familair with from The Family. This song has made her career, admittedly she took it to new levels, but she is certainly NOT singing it better than in 1990. She doesn't go anywhere near the highs she did before, she's an octave lower. She survives on this song alone, but as sung in 1990. So I don't know what the fuss was about the performance that Piers Brosnan made before and afterwards was about.

Hold up. Jill has in the past mentioned something about a broken wrist and implied it had to do something with Prince.

We do know that Sinead and Prince did have words and Sinead has said that he was chasing her around Paisley Park, if I remember correctly.

Prince was not known to beat ladies though.

With respect, because I typically enjoy your posts VaultCurator, but you mention with certainty that there is no afterlife, then mention how outlandish the accusations are about Prince without proof. Saying with certainty there is no afterlife could also be deemed as an outlandish accusation by many. I am sure you can understand the hypocrisy that exists here.

Why does the burden of proof apply to her accusations but not your difinitive statement on the afterlife? If you have proof it does not exist, please share it with us.

We all love Prince, and I would like to believe he is happy in an afterlife, making a difference there as he did here, I have no proof, I only have a beflief, a hope. Prince clearly believed he was going somewhere too, as the theme is prevelant in his music and interviews throughout his entire career.

I am always willing to learn, so I am open to any evidence you have to back up your claim that there is no afterlife.

Also, in regards to Sinead, the propogation of lies serves no-one but the server themselves.

.

Hi leadline, thank you for your response. Before I reply, I’d just like to say that I also enjoy your input on this forum and admire you as a fellow fan. I hope we can respectfully agree to disagree here and not fall out, because there really is no reason to.

.

Forgive my scepticism, but I consider the notion that there is an afterlife to be more outlandish than there not being one. Obviously I have no way of proving that there isn’t one. I’m curious to know what evidence you think I could possible produce to back up this claim. Not only would I have to prove a negative, but I’d also need to solve one of the biggest mysteries of human comprehension. I just don’t believe there is one.
.
I’m really not sure how else to respond to this Leadline. Maybe I should have been more careful in my phrasing, but didn’t expect that this is what I’d get called up on. I could have just as easily of put ‘in my opinion there is no afterlife’ and it would have made no odds to me.
.
As for the burden of proof, I’m glad you brought this up. You can claim I’m being a little hypocritical here, but at the end of the day I’m not the one accusing a dead man of physical abuse. The burden of proof wouldn’t be on Prince to prove his innocents even if he were alive, nor should it be the fans defending him by proxy. If she’s making the accusation then the burden of proof should fall on Sinead.

.

You don’t have to believe me Leadline, nor would I ever ask you to. I may have no faith, but I admire many people who do and appreciate the positive influence it has on their lives. Prince included. I wonder if Sinead would grant me that same courtesy?
.
Anyway, like I say, lets not fall out over this. With any luck this will all blow over soon enough, and we can all get back to listening to funky ass music. Peace and be wild bud.

Indeed, we can always disagree and still be courteous and respectful to one another VaultCurator. Who knows, maybe disagreeing and still remaining civil might catch on here!

Anyway, thank you for that reply, all well said.

You have to wonder if she's always secretly hated that song, and it was forced upon her by her label to sing it, only to have it become her biggest (maybe only?) hit in her whole career. Then it becomes know (to the public) that's it's a Prince song, and you're forever linked to him . . .

I'd imagine that with a certain mindset/psychologicial makeup, you'd want to tear down Prince so you can be seen on your own. But, in doing so, you're tearing down your only link to fame.

For all we know, she was crazed out of her mind and would not leave Paisley Park when asked. Maybe then it got physical, and her memory of it is skewed by drugs and paranoia. We'll never know!

She had more hits, altough not on that epic level. Mandinka probably second best known, and good.

NC2U isn't actually 'her' best song imo. That title goes to You Made Me The Thief Of Your Heart (full long version)

By the looks of Sinead O'Connor, it looks like she's the type more likely to attack people. She's been on drugs for years and has a nasty attitude that ruins any credibility in her.

She converted to islam last year.

Her swinging from one religion to another, being hetero then lesbian is quite known, etc..

She now wears a (burkha or a) headscarf (don't know how it is called in english),

with rainbow (LGBTQ...) colours over it ?!

She always came over as being out of balance (and (very) angry).

I feel (very sorry) for her since she lost her mother when she was 18 or so.

Honestly that's a huge trauma for life.

-

What happened there with Prince is not all that important (I dare to believe).

But again, this is my personal humble opinion.

Maybe suing her would've made him look more guilty? I have a friend who's bipolar and I know what that comes with, but this is no excuse to just go on television and tell lies. It's more likely that she lies, why did no one else ever come forward and told these stories especially when she says he beat up other women too? Especially when we consider how treated some people, no one ever came out and said he beat somebody up. I think it's true they clashed, and he attacked her verbally but that's about it.
Yeah for sure, it could be entirely fictional. I have no doubt that Prince didnt levitate with glowing red eyes as she said in another interview and i seriously doubt he chased her with a filled sock or whatever. Something clearly went down, i wish people would stop asking her about it because we've heard what she has to say many times. I don't think any less of Prince whatever level of truth there is to the story because i know he was a human not an angel, you know? The sheer cruelty coming from people in this thread would be disturbing if it wasn't so predictable. [Edited 9/16/19 13:22pm]

Quite frankly, I don't know why people are in such an uproar about Sinead's recent comments: Prince didn't think it was worth his time to respond when she made them while he was alive. She's made claims of abuse about her own family in the past... The fact is that she is a talented and very troubled human being who refuses to take medication for her bi-polar illness...and no one can make her do so unless she is a danger to herself or other people. A sad situation but hardly new. So, take anything she says with a grain of salt. All I have to say on the matter... Moving on...

Same ish she spouts with a add on to story every few years.

A man who surrounded himself with ladies throughout his life and only she comes out with questionable claims - pfft - he didn’t sue cause how she spoke and held herself told everyone she was not in the correct frame of mind.

She soon got lucid when arsenio hall pursued his lawsuit against her she soon retracted allegations and apologised.

Well done Mayte coming forth honouring his memory. More that do it the quicker Sinead sits back reflects on her own behaviour.

Sinead stop singing his song and donate all monies made from his creation to a charity - problem solved - u won’t ever need to have anything to do with him anymore.

Insert the “C” word here ....
