I already knew of those https://www.discogs.com/P...se/8309547 and https://www.discogs.com/P...se/8309547 and https://www.discogs.com/P...se/5748882. I wonder how many versions there are, and how many other albums have been messed-up with for international markets along the years.

It is funny to see these wildly different configurations, especially ones that include "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore" instead of tracks that made the album. And "1999" to "Lady Cab Driver" is an interesting transition - I'll have to play them back to back and see how they flow.

falloff

.

Looks like they were trying to get the two hits (1999 & LRC) to start each side.

I wonder if they used the 12'' edit with the fade out or if they just brutally interrupted the album version as it was trying to fade into LRC lol lol

Just imagine, being a South Korean in 83, buying this, never knowing it was completely fucked up before the CD reissue would finally appear (and then again without DMSR) eek

It was my first version in 1991. Aged 14, I was really confused about why in the world are there 2 versions of the album available on cassette, not to mention (back then) yet another one on CD. I finally purchased the other cassette a few months later, and soon figured out that it was the album as Prince intended it.
