I am a liberal and I laughed my azz off the whole time. I did note that I was surprised he could get away with some of the jokes in these days of outrage. However, I get his point...no one can joke about anything these days.

I have to say, I'm not sure what the significance of quoting 1999 was ....what was his point?

How things might appear ok on the outside but inside they could have serious shit going on. Suicide is the end of someone’s world. 1999 is about the end of the world. I think that’s the point

The comments made on this therad by many of the orgs long time whiners and bigots along with all the "offended" media out there is exactly the reason to see this show.
Its hilarious and on point! Chappell is at the top of his game and spares no one. Exactly what comedy is supposed to be all about long before the PC culture started trying to ruin everything.
Oh and the included Prince music is a huge bonus!
10/10 [Edited 8/29/19 10:18am] The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

I thought it was telling how he changed the lyrics "try to run from my destruction, ya know I didnt even care" as in he is going to go all out in his subject matter that would possibly end a career in these times but he doesn't care...he's going to say what he wants. "Climb in my fur."

When aren't people pissed off these day about something? ...It's getting tired and old! So sick of the social media, mob mentallity bullies, that having nothing better to do with themselves, except harrass and bully those that don't agree with them or go along with what they want them to say or believe.......ENOUGH! The world is getting sick of it and them, and I for one, can't blame them!

I'm a gay man, and I use the terms "Fag", "Queer", or whatever...I wasn't offended at all by Dave's set. It was funny. But there is a very thin line when it comes to the two words "Fag" and "Nigger". Many moons ago, at a bus station a black woman says to me "What are you looking at faggot?" and I replied "How about you don't refer to me as a faggot, and I won't call you a nigger?" As soon as I said that, I thought to myself, "she's gonna beat my faggot ass!" Alas, she just said, "Girl, please". I must say, my balls haven't been that big since then. If it breaks when it bends, U better not put it in!

The 'F' word and the 'N' word are both words that diminish, demean and marginalize whomever you're directing them towards and they have no place in anyone's vocabulary. Period. I grew up in rural Pennsylvania in the 70's, heard both alot from adults and kids, and even as a child I knew that they were wrong and hurtful. Yes, I'm a 'bleeding heart liberal' who believes that it is better to treat people with dignity and respect. Sorry for that. I'm also a gay man. If someone calls me the 'F' word they will have to deal with my wrath. I'm sure there are some on here that are screaming 'Grow up!' but I'm not the immature one. Sorry for that.

I like Dave. I love Stand Up. But I had to stop watching it. But comedy about child molestation is a bit much.

So true, both parties left and right, have dickheads who are insane, and they prove that more and more each day!

He was screaming the word ‘faggot’ because he knows how much power people ignorantly give the word. Again, the bar: “Well I ain’t a nigger either”

It was a bit much, I had to shut it off. I'm not easily offended, and I know it was probably meant to offend people, and it did just that.

Nobody is more whiney or bigoted than the folks who treat any attempts at being culturally respectful as personal attacks on their 'freedom'. The world isn't going to fucking end if you can't casually throw around racist or homophobic slurs, and if you need to rely on them to make your point or make people laugh, you aren't nearly as clever as you think you are.

it seems he is getting what he wanted. The show seemed to have quite a few parts where he was just making a joke saying "what shouldn't be said". To me, it wasn't as witty as he has been. It wasn't smart, it was kinda lazy, relying on shock effect (what little of it that there was). . Still, it was entertaining, for the most part, but only mildly so. Not offensive (to me), not thoughtful... kinda like standard US fare. . Good for him he made his money. Paisley Park is in your heart - Love Is Here!

Well, how about you go to Times Square and just start shouting them as loud as you can at people and see what happens? After all- they're just words, right? I stand by my statement- these are offensive words at any time an/or place.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I just want to know why any major network would put this on, seeing as everyone on the internet has been inundated with this "offensive" comedy out of the clear blue sky without any active volition or direct physical choosing on them, the viewers, part.
