• Prince is more convincing than Apollonia, a somewhat disconcerting realization for me. The song never got the right singer behind it who was willing to give into the song and own the lyrics they were singing. It fades out rather quickly, before any shooting whatsoever.
• Jungle Love: 8
• It's a little hard to seperate the song from Morris Day, but this track in particular has always been the one I tried to imagine Prince singing when I first realized he was behind everyone in his scene.
• Manic Monday: 6.5
• Wouldv'e been cool to hear a version by 85 Parade era Revolution. Good song that is intended for The Bangles/associated act.
• Noon Rendezvous: 7
• I forgot how the song went while writing this, so I looked it up on Youtube real quick only to find a rehearsal presumably from 1984. The Original track gets high marks just for being the basis of such an ethereal gem, streaming from the internet or Heaven for all I know. Lack of that guitar holds the Orignal back from a jump to the illustrious 10-Spot. Go listen to the rehearsal if you haven't. Reminds me of the difference between Electric Intercourse on Purple Rain Deluxe and it's First Ave 83 performance .

• Prince does own the lyrics, but he don't give in all the way. I dig it

• Noise isn't always a bad thing, especially when it comes to this guy, but the song is 100 MPH to nowhere as far as my ears are concerned.

• Make-Up: 8.5 (Surprised. Wasn't expecting much from this, but it's interesting to hear.)
• 100 MPH: 6.5 (biggest dissappointment. Sounds so muddy. I love the circulating boot version much more.)
• You're My Love: 9.5 (Wow. More unexpected stuff like this would be great. Not the world's greatest song, but so unusual for Prince's style.)

Overall I really liked the whole album. Part of me feels slightly let down because many of these songs I've been wishing to hear Prince's vocal version for decades. With so much anticipation and high expectations, there was no way to meet those expectations. I remember thinking "I've been waiting for 35 years to hear some of these". LOL.

Really hoping for many future volumes to come. There is so much to choose from that we will all never agree on a tracklist. We've got to be greatful for what we got thought.

(Another one that I unfortunately can't help but compare to the bootleg in my mind. The boot is pitched down just a bit compared to this one, which gives the bootleg a superior emotional impact, at least for me. I want to give it a 10, but it just doesn't quite hit me as strong as I thought it would.)

(This is awesome. The driving groove just makes my head bob. It's a way better version than the bootleg I've heard before and better than Taja's version. Sound quality isn't great, but I grew up in the 80s and enjoyed a good mix tape made by a friend or something taped off the radio, so I don't need a crystal clear mix to enjoy music.)
