Yep, this is so true. I want new music, I hope it's new music. But I am certainly not expecting anything particular. I just hope it's not just something pointless like a new line of perfumes and candles.

It'll also probably be an announcement for something coming months down the line too.

I wish folks would not be negative but to just wait for August 1st and not make assumptions.

This is true but I'd advise against expecting news of that magnitude. I'd fully love for my mind to be blown, don't get me wrong and will be completely happy if that does turn out to be the case.

I think people are disappointed because deep down, we all know that Prince is dead and gone, and we are just pathetically trying to hold on to what was and what was left behind, and it's so sad, depressing and boring! Living in the past is not really living at all, and what once was, will never be again!

Another incomplete hits collection Prince4Ever, a semi decent PR Deluxe, numerous unecessary releases of NC2U, Piano & A Microphone 83 that should've been a bonus disc at best. Originals was OK... But overall, just meh. MEH.

Quite possibly. He seemed to have mentioned a couple of things that were coming down the pike soon that were unrelated. That does make sense, though.

My own personal disappointment comes from the fact that Prince left behind potentially hundreds of unreleased songs and all we've gotten so far has been a hastily assembled Purple Rain Deluxe, an "album" of live demos and the Originals album, which was OK but could and should have been much better. Where are the projects he was working on before he died? Black is the New Black, the second 3rdEyeGirl album etc. Those should be the priority. They focus on PR / 1999 eras and reissues yet the thing which would be closest to his ethos of moving forward and onto the next thing is neglected and his pigeonholed as the purple rain guy. They probably feel (rightly from a commercial viewpoint) that a semi-unfinished, mostly instrumental jazz-funk album (Black is the New Black) and a follow-up to an album that not many people have heard of (3rdEyeGirl 2) would not sell . My guess is, if they do ever release a second 3rdEyeGirl album, it would be as a bonus disk with a re-release of the original record.

I do think they may well at some point attempt to compile and release some sort of compilation of the best unreleased material from say 2012-16 as a kind of 'final album'. Which could be cool .

This is the best way to deal with the Estate and what will will not will possibly be released. Just let it happen with no expectations.
