I think it is so cute and I like the animation! It would be also cool to see a live performance of this also. Love is God, God is love, girls and boys love God above~
The only Love there is, is the Love We Make~ Prince4Ever

It's feckin' brilliant. Pure cheese. Made my day. And a fantastic song. Loved all the output at that time. He was so proliffic at tht stage. A machine. Love and respect. Love the man. Love the music. Love. Was probably in love with him too. Amazing. Looking for a new man. Freaks need not apply. Freeeks can tho ;-p

Perhaps one of my least favorite songs on Originals, but it made an enjoyable video that is getting a fair amount of exposure.

what a steaming pile... Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

I like the video. It remind's me of Peter, Bjørn & John's 'Young Folks.' More importantly my kids liked it and it's this sort of stuff that's going to get them interested in Prince.

I love this song...it's one of those Prince songs that you really have to listen to on headphones, though to get the full experience.
Some of the stuff that goes on deep in the back of the mix is crazy...there are some guitar solos on this song that rival his best guitar stuff but you can just barely make it out...quite infuriating, really!
The video is very nice, I like that they did something different for a change...got pretty tired of that rehearsal footage.
I say: Keep it coming, right now it feels good to be a Prince fan.

I don't love the song, it's "ok", but I like the video. It gives it a color and flavor. It adds charm. But most of all, it adds a nice tinge of Prince and his style. And also I finally know what the lyrics say lol. I honestly never even cared what he was singing about other than it was the name of the track. [Edited 8/3/19 8:39am]

I enjoyed this animated video, although it is somewhat simple and the likeliness with Prince could have been better. I wouldn't mind more of these animated Prince videos in the future. RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

It's cool. I like the female swaying from side to side. "I like to watch."

I may have been a bit slow here, but has anyone else noticed the connections between Holly Rock and the Dream Factory LP?

I feel the same way. Unwatchable. I had to walk away, it was embarassingly childish. Like my 16 year old did it for a high school project...

Just hard to watch. Not worthy of a song that is not worthy to be picked for a video above so many others. Hoping it gets better. [Edited 8/7/19 20:40pm]

That's the only thing the budget allowed her to do.

VaultCurator said: I may have been a bit slow here, but has anyone else noticed the connections between Holly Rock and the Dream Factory LP? Yes, this was during the time that Prince was lashing out at his friends/former associates - Morris, Jimmy Jam, Jesse, and especially Paul Peterson who we know was the subject of the song Dream Factory. I just watched the 3/3/86 First Ave show again where he calls out Jimmy during Mountains and sings the “what have you done for me lately” line during controversy, then he “chops” down the “Oak Tree” and does the “wooden leg” dance, and then most blatantly he calls out Paul Peterson by name during Mutiny with chants of Dream Factory and Holly Rock. * I think Holly Rock was Prince’s slam toward those who had left him and moved to LA to pursue their own careers, and Dream Factory was specifically aimed at Paul because he unexpectedly quit The Family to have his own record deal. * I don’t think Holly Rock was that significant to him. I don’t think he ever performed the full song live - it was always just the one liner chant.

AvocadosMax said: “He never would have approved of dis!!” You don’t know that. He seemed to love cartoon versions of himself starting with 20TEN up until his very last studio album. Very true. I feel like he'd be amused by it, even if it's not the usual brand of 'cool'. It's a chill animation to a funky song. What's not to love?

Yes, it's literally one 1999 style and the rest are all from Purple Rain.

To me the video looks cheap and tacky, BUT Prince wasn't above looking tacky with the Alphabet Street video, the Graffiti Bridge film, the 20Ten cover art etc.. So, whilst I don't like the video, I don't disapprove of it because it's the kind of thing I can fondly imagine Prince having commissioned.

Pretentious crying, whining, bitching and moaning: The Thread I know I'm super late but damn some of y'all are just impossible to please. There is nothing wrong with the song or the video. It's certainly higher budget than the average Prince video.

I really like the video and the concept. Would love to see more like this. I think Prince would have loved it.
