I just wanna get a sense of peoples' feelings on this. I'm not talking about bonus tracks and stuff (though certainly they'd be a draw), just a proper, Bernie Grundman-approved remaster to replace the Paisley Park 2015 version.

I know I would.

I definitely would. The current remaster isn't without some merits but the brickwalling makes much of it unlistenable to the point that I just listen to the original release when I listen to PR.

RIP sad

Probably not, the original sounds fine to me. If everyone said they had made it sound MUCH better i'd probably at least check it out but I have my doubts as to how it could be improved.

Not if there wasn't any bonus Unreleased material.

It's always sounded great to me as is.

i would buy it, yes, if it sounded better than the 2017 remaster. also, there would have to be more bonus material. the other half a dozen or so known studio cuts from this era and a concert.

Yes, Bernie Grundman did his own actual remaster around 2010/2011 when Prince was having initial discussions about 20Ten Deluxe possibly being released on WB. It's still in Warner's vault and will most likely be released for the 40th anniversary.

My 2nd hand vinyl of Purple Rain still sounds great. But if it contained bonus tracks like the 'Revolution' version of Dance Electric and the extended version of 17 Days, then definitely. Also Erotic City without the beginning messed up would be nice too.

I've heard that being the last remaster was brickwalled, a new master has been created to include a conservatory and patio!

cool

Yes. I never listen to the 2015/2017 mix. I loved the bonus treats, of course, but not the main album.

I'd at least stream it. Whether or not I bought it would depend on if they included stuff like this:

  • G-Spot
  • All Day, All Night
  • The Dance Electric (W&L version)
  • all extended mixes that weren't on the first remaster

Funny you say that because in my mind it was on there. When I saw The Revolution, even my boyfriend knew the words to it. lol

No.

I am over Purple Rain.

It did not define him (for me), and it something he ran away from.

If it was just the remastered album, possibly not, but if they remastered the album properly and produced an expanded Purple Rain SDE similar to the upcoming 1999 (with an extra disc of demos/outtakes including some of the missing extended versions + the audio from a live concert) then I'd be all over it.

I probably would.

I reallly wanted the Deluxe version on LP, but decided against it because of just how shoddy Prince's "remaster" really was. It's louder for sure, but anyone can do that in a few clicks on their own computer software.

I'm more than satisfied with Disc 02 of Purple Rain Deluxe, but yeah it's missing 17 Days Extended, Wednesday, etc. So I'd get another set if it were to come out again.

But really, I'm looking for 1999, Parade and SOTT to get the Deluxe treatment.

They could do an option of a new remaster with aditinal disks other that then ones rleased that would suplament the Deluxe set.

I’d buy it if it had a version of the album with all the longer versions of the songs before they were edited down. That’d Be crazy to listen to rather than just having them as bonus songs

I'd probably get on board, but really I don't ever want any remasters of anything. Just leave the music the way Prince made it, end of story.

This is my dream. The Bernie Grundman remasters of the b-sides, 7 and 12-inches, and bonus material from last PR reissue was wonderful (except for that glitch at the beginning of Erotic City) .

The Paisley Park Remaster of PR is a mess.

I would buy a Bernie Grundman-approved remaster, even if it was just the album.

No - unless it contains a DVD of the 8/3/83 First Avenue concert.

I still have my original vinyl plus the deluxe that came out last year. Pretty sure I'm done.
