Even Bert's link to a Wikipedia article notates DTT-Lyrics site. It's not really a secret message. It's clear as day that something is there. It's just Prince being Prince.

He used to play with vocals like that a lot. You can even hear him, very low in the mix quoting the title of "Irresistible Bitch" around the rhythm track in the song. I discovered it a few years ago. It just suddenly popped out of me.

Now if we could just figure out all the words to "Shortberry Strawcake".

I like the low in the mix backwards message in "2 Y. 2 D." on HitNRun Phase Two at 1.07 that, if you play it backwards, says "Don't buy HitNRun Phase One, it's shit".

I'd disagree. I don't think anyone is overlooking "Baby, I'm A Star". Who cares where it was in the movie, the soundtrack was out a month before the movie. I remember radio stations in my area deciding whether to play "I Would Die 4 U" with it, or treat each song was its own track. Needless to say, those two songs connecting gave Prince even more radio play.

But overlooked by hardcore fans? Nah.

There is not a single track, on the whole of Purple Rain, that you can say is "overlooked."

You want to know something sad, though? Until today, I had no idea that was a backwards message at all. I never knew exactly what was being said, but swore I could pick parts out, even though none of it made sense. Something about "honey I just wrote the book" and "excuse my I'm lost" or some other nonsense. I hereby turn in my Prince Hardcore card...
