Comerica/Howe/Estate/et. al figure, okay, we'll release some songs not Purple Rain era, but we better drench them in some Purple Rain iconography for supreme profit maximazation.

It's probably because this is composed out of the footage Apple Music is using to create their First Ave 83 documentary. So less of a lazy move and more of a promotional move for what's next. [Edited 6/21/19 16:30pm]

dsimp8 said: Some awesome new footage! Looks like some choreography for When Doves Cry video Yes, definitely some of the When Dove’s Cry video practice. Such great footage, but so ridiculous to use it for Manic Monday. Just does not work. This type of video footage should be released with the audio. They should put together any footage of the PR period and sell that.

Cobbler together from off-cuts from the NC2U video. Lazy effort from the estate. For all Howe’s crowing on about releasing respectful work this comes across as very disrespectful to P’s legacy.

how would someone get in touch with the estate?

OMG that Prince Manic Monday rehearsals video lol. You can tell some of the dance moves rehearsal with Brown Mark and Wendy etc are the When Doves Cry video dance practice. The thing is, these quick flash rehearsal videos are exciting because he was such an enigma. They are just as exciting as the public performances. However, I bet Prince would be pissed to have these behind the scenes rehearsals released though. Just like MJ would have been pissed at This Is It. "Climb in my fur."

I get all the criticism and most is valid. Otoh, It makes sense to link to and follow on from the NC2U vid, because they are part of the same release. I found the vid exciting and fascinating and wasn’t bothered by the lack of sync. On the contrary: I think it was better that way because it made it explicitly clear that they were dancing to other music. I think we would all be more pissed off if they made it look like this was footage of them rehearsing for this song. It makes sense to link audio not intended for release, demo quality, with visuals of the same standing. And yeah, these releases are not focused primarily on the ultra-hardcore fans and I too would like to see a well-curated box set, but it’s still possible to enjoy these for what they are. He was a smart guy. He knew all of it would eventually come out, especially since important chunks were already out via bootlegs. However, he did not dictate in writing what when and how he wanted the material released. I think that was purposeful on his part - as in “let all the fools here figure it out when I’m gone”. He knew it would be a mess.

I wouldn't really consider random rehearsal footage with Manic Monday music on top of it a Manic Monday video. Release a video with somehting actually associated with the song Manic Monday, or, release the rehearsal footage with the rehearsal footage audio. In my opinion this demo should not have been released. Its clearly a simple guide vocal. No way Prince would have released this. That goes for the album as a whole. I get that it's a treat for die hards but I think they are doing the catalog disservice by not releasing his most recent recordings instead.

I think it’s a great look/listen into his “demo” process for both new and old/die-hard fans. New fans and/or younger people will learn the brilliance of his ability to create these songs for both genders. * I agree that they also need to release his newer recordings, but the amount of material is so huge. It will take some time.

These pseudo-crusades for what he would have wanted are irrelevant. We don't know what he wanted. But of course every Prince fan is the biggest and best Prince fan. So clearly, the Org is the place to go to dispel the knowledge by said fan.

At this point be thankful for what you get. My guess is that Prince purposely did all this stuff in LIFE so that when he died people would be going nuts over stuff and what is what and what stinks, the reality is that its the same as when he was alive so nothing has changed. As for the ORIGINALS cd not having notes or artwork, blame MR JAY Z who has the initial right to release it but all he has are digital platforms which lets be real no one in this day and age cares about artwork and liner notes like we did, we are a vanishing breed folks. So no one is going to foot the bill on artwork and notes and interviews for a release that JAY Z was handling, hes not footing the bill for anything, so that is why you got what you got. News for all, if it was a BRAND NEW album on TIDAL youd be getting the same lackluster release and push. Agreed. Releasing exactly what Prince fan prefers = happy Prince fan. Otherwise, you get a critical and bickering Prince fan. I like it all - even it’s not my favorite time period for his music. * Prince was said to have scoured YT regularly to look for potential musicians. Heck, he even endorsed Chloe Calvin’s (very good) YT review of his Parade album on its 30th Anniversary by re-tweeting it on his account So, it’s not that he didn’t like it or use it - he just didn't want random people posting his shows or recordings. A bit of a double standard, but ya know, that was sometimes Prince

I understand the sentiment for sure, but boycotts never have the desired effect intended. If there was a strong boycott, it might lead to change, but likely would lead the stooges in charge to simply think demand is low, and the vault would be closed. When Stevie Wonder and others decided not to perform in Florida as a boycott for the Trayvon Martin shooting, what did that accomplish? Well, concerts bring money to local economies, and create at least a quick temp job for low income workers looking for a quick second income, which would not be there if there is no concert...
But, the vault is in bad hands, and no matter what great strategy I can come up with, there is some negative force against it. Keeping my fingers crossed...

I agree - I’ll take those Revolution rehearsals any way I can get them, BUT, it would be even more pleasing to see and hear them in their actual context. Maybe they’re saving that for the Ava docu?? Wouldn’t that be nice!

Profit? Playoffs? Did you say Playoffs? No evidence that there is anything remotely close to profit for these stooges. They have no clue what die hards want, and The 22 year old auto tune fanatics are not asking their parents for money to spend on Prince.

All this over a video perhaps 8 people who are not prince.org members will see.. ..
Yes, a stupid video, only a buffoon or stooge working on this stuff would think this makes sense. And yes, I'd love for that Warehouse rehearsal to come out some day on Blu Ray, but nobody will watch this, it will be forgotten in a few days. Sad, but with Originals likely poor sales number, the plug could be pulled sooner than we think...that's why exhaustive box sets are so important, we need as much material released as quickly as possible, or we may never hear it.
