I've dreamed a song, once. It was the mid-90s, and I was taking an afternoon nap. I heard a melody in a dream, and had some of the lyrics. I woke up, sat at my keyboard and played it and wrote the rest of the lyrics. It was called "Listen 2 The Music", which seemed oddly appropriate. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Very nice article. Hopefully some in the press will spill some ink highlighting the generosity he demonstrated by giving others fully cut versions of songs as opposed to just advice or guitar/piano demos? I'm sure he made some money, but he wasn't obligated to do any of that. He could have kept all of it to himself. At the same time, I hope some portion of proceeds from Originals will go to the protégés who need it most. McReary reflects, “He always knew who he was. Everybody else just needed to figure it out.” So true. Calls to mind he challenged the industry to keep pace with his output. It somewhat famously tried to hold him back out of fear of saturating the marketplace. Today, the internet has unleashed an endless supply of music and its not uncommon for deluxe versions of albums to be stuffed with alternate versions, live versions, demo versions, etc. That said, 30 second previews of Originals are available on Tidal. Listening doesn't require membership. Not sure I feel about the Kenny Rogers' tune. But they all sound amazing. I'm looking forward to the wider release. https://listen.tidal.com/.../110361100 [Edited 6/7/19 11:36am]
