sorry peeps....other than us die hards...there is nothing in the vault that is going to create a media buzz where everyone has rush to download or buy it. At best, if anything were to sell over 250k copies, that would be a success. This just isn't realistic. Prince's sales wee not very good the last 10 years of his life, so other than the mystique of the vault...what is really going to bring in new fans?

Estate: just like NPG music club...stream all that shit! Songs. Albums. Video. Concerts. Everything! Enough of this non sense. Let the fans decide what they want. It's obviously clear you have n freaking idea what you are doing. The music will always be there. Reality is no one will see any music after the 80's and there is a ton more music beyond that!

I would like the music that we have no idea about, songs that nobody has heard of, songs not circulating in any way whatsoever. The unreleased stuff over at Princevault only represents about what, 10%, of what is actually in the vault? Probably a lot less than 10%. Imagine a 3cd set of songs whose titles are brand spankin' new for everyone.

You certainly know how to make a worthy release! A box-set of 20 cds of unreleased material ... This and the return of the NPGMC 4 sure!

The releases of the Estate are disappointing xcept for some outtakes from Purple Rain...( I only bought this btw...)

They need to open the floodgates for sure, the 600 year release plan doesn't work for me.

It has nothing to do with solely profit.
You’re very wrong.

.

If so they are using the wrong approach.

They release the wrong stuff.

They release too few things.

They release in the wrong formats.

They are not even close to the theoretical profit maxmimzation that is possible.

(experts here can enlighten us with examples from other artists/estates)

.

38 CDs, 432 Tracks - 267 Previously Unreleased

.

Just sayin'.

.

As a reminder: http://www.funku.fr/2019/...originals/

.

I reviewed about 262 Vault titles to end up with the 15 present in Originals .

.

But please continue to tell me how extensive, lavish box sets are impossible.

Slightly related, some extensive, lavish box set backgrounds providing some market research.

Why are there so many of them?

This man hasn't died yet!!

Yet they rehash many albums (partly remastered) and add some 'new' things.

It would not be logical to do this when this wouldn't sell.

the only way to do the catalogue justice, release it in quanitity AND quality & make a decent amount of $ whilst his fan-base can still be arsed is to offer a purely online based subscription. It's all so bloody obvious!

.

Exactly. I am old and not going to live forever, or anywhere close to that. I'm over it with the estate releasing one or two albums worth of material per year when there are grooves and grooves up on the shelf.

They are going to wait until all the long time hardcore Prince fans have passed on, and then there will always be fans, but not nearly as many as right nor or as devoted as those who have been there for nearly 40 years.
