Well, I agree 100% that Prince had disdain for his best material. But despite getting something is better than nothing, Piano & A Short 34 min cd is right up there with Prince releasing 3 CD worth of material over 5 Discs with Crystal Ball, which of course, was one mistep after another. Until I have my hands on 30 discs of the best material covering 1976-2015, I won't really be happy, but one album a year with shoddy choices won't really make me content either...but Originals is a step in the right direction.

I think the 'Deliverance' release/unreleased was a perfect example of what the estate should put out. I never knew such music existed and it's great. They talk about enough music for a hundred years but his hardcore fam base is gonna die in twenty or thirty years! klick

I'd ideally like to see a kind of 'Dream Factory Sessions' release. I'm not talking about a reconstruction of that album, but rather unreleased songs from that period, e.g. In A Large Room With No Light, Wintness 4 The Prosecution, Go, etc. It was such a creative and prolific period, it seems like such a no-brainer. So many great songs just languishing. How about it Mr Michael Howe? Preferably while I'm still able to listen to it without needing a hearing aid.

Well, it is a NO-BRAINER, 1982-1987 was his richest period in the studio, particulary the songs that ended up on SOTT/Dream Factory/Crystal Ball...but if those in charge have no brains, we may as well get my silly joke and wind up with a recording of every time Shelby shouted "Put Your Hands Up." 1987 Prince never would've let that happen. I heard some fan actually counted on one of the W2A bootlegs, and counted over 100 times. Despite some awesome moments in those shows, 100 Times? Self-Parody?
But we are dealing with people who have no care for Prince's legacy, no care for the Vault, and no idea a cd can hold 79 minutes of music. Expect more 34 minute releases like Piano...but as I have said, Originals at least gives promise somebody has some smarts...but let's see how long that lasts. As far as no brainer songs to be released:
Old Friends 4 Sale(Original) Witness 4 The Prosecution Empty Room Rebirth Of The Flesh In A Large Room With No Light There's Others Here With Us Adonis And Bathsheba Joy In Repetition(Original Linn Drum Intro) Extra Loveable(1983 Version with or without sick lyrics, I don't care) Purple Music Possessed(common version we all love, not the ok one on PR Deluxe) The Dance Electric(version with guitar solo) Train Data Bank Turn It Up Wally
And of course many more...

Yoo much nastiness here (Databank) for people who share such a deep love for this man's work. Ww all want something out of the vault. I personally want to hear expanded collections of each album plus a disc full of songs from the album or period that he shelved. I do like The Originals idea assuming there will be more. I do not get why they would choose Make Up when greater tracks were available (If I Love U Tonight). However, any Prince fans know that in life he often did things many of us felt frustrated about. I am just ecstatic that Baby You're A Trip is on with all that super screaming!! I have always loved Wouldn't You Love 2 Love me (hoping for the earlier pre 1986/1987 version like on Taja's album. This will be great and we have to e happy that there are releases happening. I would love to hear them release newer music in parallel.

FRom the Info i have from some1 well informed working in the Musical industry.....1999 Deluxe is an opportunity to release something much more substantial than PR Deluxe was.... there are a lot of song fully unreleased & unknown by the most hardcore fans & Big collectors....not only 3 or 4 songs unknown but much much more than that...unfortunately i have no more details to share because this contact can't share more than this...but i can assure u because i trust him....there is a lot unknown studio material in the Vault than what we can suppose....The Vault site for example is far away to report what is in the Vault (Studio Work)!!
Take this 4 what it is .....!

i would like to see rereleases of older albums in a deluxe format like Purple Rain. So as to include remix's and extended versions etc - some of such versions are/were only released on vinyl.

Not sure why I'm being targeted here of all people, since I've always spoke of Mr. Howe and the Estate in much more civil terms than many others. Because I have such a deep love for the man's work is the reason why I wish his past work was treated with a little more respect and care. It may happen, though, let's already see what this collection sounds like. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

. Yes, yes and yes. I absolutely hate the version of Possessed on PR Deluxe. . I'd also like to have an official release of Prince's version of Mutiny.

Has a detailed track by track review appeared yet? I’m in two minds whether to renew my Tidal subscription (I only joined because of P), wait for leaks or shock/horror wait to buy the album at a record stow. If I did that it would be a painfully looooong fortnight. 🤔🤔🤔

wouldn't that be great. Literally the framework is set up & good to go! - literally upload it & make it pay per DL = done! ....too obvious, too easy...& estate & family too stupid!

If I were in charge of the estate, I would 1) BRING BACK “PURPLE PICK OF THE WEEK” on TIDAL. I’d mainly choose studio versions of unreleased tracks we never heard before. Thar way when it comes time to release “Crystal Ball” for example, there isn’t any overlap in tracks and it doesn’t seem redundant. 2) Release “Piano & a Microphone”. Two different releases, one is a boxset of almost the entire tour including the Paisley Park shows, and the second is one disc that’s a compilation of the ‘best of’ P&AM marketed for the general music-listening audience. “Purple Music” would be a single 3) Release the remasters in bundles, sorta like how Bowie’s estate is handling his music. (Ex: the early years 1978-1981) That way we get through them quicker and the fans can be happy

I have always sort of assumed that the whole "P with his head in his hands, wondering why he can't have his way" Jill Jones story about the bass in When Doves Cry was 100% myth making. I think this shows it was far less dramatic than that.

There's along article about Originals in Belgian newspaper De Morgen today, which features an extensive interview with Michael Howe. While he's tied to a very restrictive NDA, some of his answers are more forthcoming than they have been in previous interviews. I don't have the time to translate it all now, but one of the more intriguing replies was that they'd bene considering an NPGMC-style service, but that this would be hard to do now because part of the catalogue is tied up in restrictive deals dating back to when Prince was alive. This is interesting, because it clearly cannot be the recent Sony/Legacy deal (which involves all of the released output), so he is most likely talking about unreleased music, and more specifically the outtakes form the Warners era. © Bart Van Hemelen

. Howe has mentioned numerous times that he's signed a restrictive NDA. In the interview with De Morgen he could barely bring himself to confirm that the vault contains recordings from the late 1970s. (I seriously don't understand why they refuse to admit the existence of recordings that have been bootlegged for decades, as if they're guarding state secrets. Also, it's a shame that this journalist was once again someone who was poorly informed about what's available and what the background was of for instance "Wally", which they also talked about.) . . https://www.demorgen.be/t...~b9060ddc/ . "Postuum album van Prince verschijnt op Tidal: ‘We voelen zijn ogen op onze rug’" by Sasha Van der Speeten in De Morgen on 6 June 2019. . Some excerpts (in Dutch): .
. What he says is that they are considering releasing bootlegs that are in excellent sound quality (e.g. the Trojan Horse 1988 aftershow,...). He's also saying that they aren't really considering the opinions of hardcore fans, because how would you determine which ones to listen to and which ones to ignore. (IMHO this is an abysmally stupid reasoning.) . Here's what he says about the possibility of a new NPGMC-like service (see above for short summary in English): .

Do we have more details about some unreleased songs in the Vault from WBR era considered to be released one day or another? Thanx

After the recent Prince/Warner deal expires in some years, think 2021 or so, they will be more free in releasing music/videos from all eras... Think they know the hardcore fans want more than one record per year... So a npgmc type of music subsription is nice... maybe in cooperation with big streaming service ....

Let`s be optimistic )
What we also need is one big Box of live footage in HD from each tour....with aftershows and rehearsals included...
