Why???? Eric isn’t Prince, so of course it will be a different performance of the song - done in his own style to honor Prince. He wasn’t trying to replicate a Prince-style performance.

Prince fans will never understand. They need bombast. One of the most oxymoronic fan group. I can see some of them saying Johnny Cash's version of Personal Jesus doesn't even have the synths!"

'Holy Mother' is the first song of his I really liked, though, particularly the version from Hyde Park below. Never knew about the Prince connection.

I'm not apologizing for Clapton, but he really doesn't seem to be a bad guy. If nothing else, he introduced more people to the blues than anyone else, inspiring people to pick up the guitar, and helped many African-American musicians over the decades.

People say stupid things all the time. It's what they DO that counts.
